I definitely think the two posted coins are probably the elite of this year's O Canada series. There are several others I also think are attractive, but these two stand out. I totally agree with Commems--the down by the old maple coin design minus the swing would have been wonderful for the canopy coin series. I also think this coin was inspired by that series, or possibly it and they were all inspired by the same original source.

Must admit, the wolf is really nice.

UPDATE:

Ah, but... I can't buy this from the US. And it's a subscription. And it's the only nice coin in the series.

I'll pass.

@canadian_coins:

Only for now it is subscription.
Like the 2013 O Canada coins, the individual coins were available (and I think, all of them still available) at RCM and dealers, like CA, Gatewest, Talisman and others, and they ship to US.

Plus Canada Post sold the Colored Maple Leaf 2013 O Canada 10$ Coin for the same price as the subscription price of $39.99, instead of whatever RCM had that coin priced at ($54.99 or something). So maybe that will happen this time again. The subscriptions seem to be such a bad deal.

You correct, but:

The subscriptions weren't targeted to be a deal.
You just buy the coins for issue price + receive great box for storage.
Sometimes, as for Go7 and RCM Lunar coins - the subscriptions are great, and in the most of the times (at least recently) all the set available at dealers for discounted price.

The benefit of the subscription - it helps to maintain prestige MC status.

I only bought the coins I really wanted from the 2013 O Canada series because I figured since each coin has such a high mintage, they won't be hard to get anytime soon. I also took advantage of the Canada Post deal on the coloured Maple Leaf coin and I think it is the nicest looking out of all the coins. I don't care about the subscription box either, i'd personally rather have the clam shells and I will be doing the same for this years O Canada series.

Did anyone subscribed to this series at the Mint?

I'd just like to know if each coin will be shipped in an individual clamshell (like the Great Lakes series) or without a clamshell (like most of the past subscriptions)

We're subscribed to it. My coin was in a plain black paper folder inside plastic inside a capsule much like the 20 for 20 series. I can't wait for the colorized coin! My certificate was 30000 out of 40000! love it!

Anyone know which month the wolf coin will be released? I love the Northern Lights effect!

The wolf will go great with the The Northern Lights: Great Hare coin.

Just received the Downhill Skiing $10 and $25 coins. Along with the box for both sets. The wood box for the $25 coins is quite nice, but the $10 coins 'holder' (I refuse to call it a box) seems a bit cheap to me. I understand that they went that way with the 6-coin sets in 2013, I just hope they don't go this route with other coin sets.
