You guys are so lucky in the UK. Find ancient coins all the time, it seems.

It had warmed up enough here in the past 2 weeks to go out but I couldn't find time. And now there is a dusting of snow on the ground. I am ready for spring to begin.

Those ancient coins, are they silver, pewter..? Got permission from a friend to hunt his backyard. Probably 75 yards deep behind the house, a river on it, and built probably in the 1940's or 50's, so really hoping for some good finds. Going with a friend's son. He's younger and kinda quiet, so he needs some companionship, and it'll be nice to have a partner. (hope he doesn't find all the good stuff! ) Wish us luck!

Yesterday's finds: Yard Junk Friend's first silver ever, and first coin of the day. I was jealous. My horde 57d quarter, 43s merc. my first of both! wheaties, not all identified yet. any suggestions for removing the corrosion without destroying the coin? All in all, a great day, and beat the rain that's falling for the last 24 and will continue till tomorrow morning. Cheers!

Man,I'm so envious! Both about the silver and being able to get out. I've got a nasty fever and I have to turn my computer's brightness down.
Nice silvers though!

I soak my wheaties in olive oil for a long time and it seems to work pretty good. Congrats on the silver. I have only found 1 merc, last year.

I figured out that I have my oldest find now! A shotgun shell from 1926-1930! Yes! Might not be a lot, but still cool. I gotta find the cord that plugs my camera into my computer now.....

Thanks, everyone. we gotta keep at it guys! perseverence! we have friends! we have family! there's always somewhere to detect, I believe. Here's our second day at friend's house: Property was flooded from heavy rains on east coast; this was AFTER the water receded. There was literally a 2 ft. fish in the water you see on the lawn. It was a carp, and it was huge. They were able to net it in a river net and put it back in the river. Also, did a tot lot today for about 20 mins; .35 cents found and lots of those wire brackets in the ground.
