Congrads to receiving the coin. When you get the camera from your wife, post pics ASAP! So are you still never going to use UPS?

Thanks! :)

Actually it's USPS i.e. US Mail. I definitely prefer FedEx or UPS because you can track it along the way and they give you a delivery date. You don't have to wait and wonder if it's going to be a week or three.

I must admit though, as a shipper I would go with USPS. Certified Mail is apparently extremely reliable, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

I do like it when all that worry is for nothing

I got a package with my second largest purchase ever early last year that had been in the post for 3 weeks. Of course it was registered, insured etc. and that will slow it way down every time because of the levels of sign off it has to go through.

Her family lives just outside of Fort Bragg, where we met.

I had a daughter, a few years back, that was one of three out of over a hundred women to make it into the Airborne. She says there is nothing like jumping out of a jet aircraft? I had to agree with her on that one while I stood firmly on the ground and did take her word on it!

I would still wait another week. I would bet it will show up. I ordered a Radon home test kit and sent by USPS and they said it shipped out on the 12th I did not actually get it until the 23rd....have no idea what it was doing all that time.....mail limbo I guess....

On the downside though, you can't insure coins, including collectable coins, with either UPS or FedEx. So if it get lost or damaged you're out of luck.

And if it is sent registered you can insure cash, but only for the face value. Collectibles can be insured for market or replacement value.

You said you would have been willing to pay $20 for a faster shipping method. At that level Liberty PAID $20 to ship it to you (assuming it was sent registered.) Af frankly with a coin of that value I'd rather have it sent slow and safe where I'm sure it will arrive than faster and risky.

OK now you've had half the world worried about that coin so as soon as possible, take photos and post it.
By the way here is a tip on sending items through the UPS system I found. Put anything you want in a box. Wrap it with that clear packing tape so nothing falls out. Write the words "This Side UP" with an arrow on the box. Then write Fragile in several places with this "Toys for a 2 year old's birthday". Laugh if you want but lately I've sent my Grandaughter in Tennessee boxes with toys from the Chicago area and they must have flown them there. Two days and not a scratch on the box. People that work for UPS have kids too.
I've sent my son letters there and they took a week via the USpostal service.

please let me know how it turns out - I just sent some coins off to PCGS registered mail. Weirdly enough - I couldnt have the mail registered AND sent overnight? Either one or the other?! (Because the value was over 5k) it sounds kind of absurd though, Anyway- Good luck and let me know how it turns out!

That is because for security they keep all of the registered mail locked up together and all of the overnight mail is probably kept together as well. Trying to keep overnight registered seperate and secure, and expedited for speed while being signed for by everyone who handles it would probably be very difficult. If they did do it they would probably charge out the wazoo for the service. (one pound $2500 package, $80 - $100)

Now you know why it is referred to as:"SNAIL MAIL"!
The good news is that if rgistered, it has to have a point-to-point reference, sooo, as Confucicus said, "If rape inevitable relax and enjoy it"!
Later:Nice looking couple! You are about the same age as my youngest grand-son, in the Army. He, and his older brother is in Iraq.
