If it's a blue Ike it would be business strike quality. There is no confusing a blue Ike Unc with a brown Ike Proof. So which is it?

Nice purchase.

It does not matter if you bought it raw, using the terms brown (for the proof) or blue (for the uncirculated) describe how it was originally issued.

So then it must have been a brown ike right without the box. Because it's definitely proof, and definitely silver. I might go back today and pick up a couple more, because brown ikes go for way more on ebay.

Check the reverse. Maybe you scored a Night Crawler variety.

Correct. They get busted out. I busted out all of mine to fill my Dansco.

It is possible that this one was busted out to build an Eisenhower dollar set (maybe in an album like the Dansco). The dealer broke that set to sell it. This is why the dealer used the term "set" to describe where he got it... from a Eisenhower dollar set... not a proof set.

Bought-A-1971-S-Proof-Ike-Today

The Brown ike I made this post about is on the bottom right, on top of it is a very nice condition 1971 D clad, and to the left a 1971S blue ike.

At $7 a pop, I would not wait. That's just slightly over melt price. I'd buy everything they have for that price and preserve them for the future!
