My post wasn't meant to start a political debate, it was meant to recall those who served their country when asked to do so.

I very much like these coins they are nicely done. My uncles and father served in WWII so I like military history collectibles. Commems I do agree with your statement on the new $30.00 coin, I wished they had of kept them in a narrower denomination range to fit my other collections.

Got the identical collection commens, and like these the best with more to come no doubt..
I was surprised nothing for day one of the war...from the Mint.
...and...If I may add...very difficult not to be political on the topic of that war:
Good to remember those who readily jumped on ships to help out mother england...but 66,000+ young Canucks gave their lives for a war that never should have been...very p
oor diplomacy in Europe back them...
What were they thinking?

I think, unlike the "V-day"(s), the event itself (WWI) being commemorated, and no one celebrates the day.

Very true. Here on CCF, however, I only post about coins and never do so with any political intent. I reserve such discussions for other times/places. Just me...

Being apolitical is okay commens...for you...in this forum.

Having an opinion or comment about a coin or coins produced by a government agency that are designed to commemorate such a momentous historical event is inherently political...for me...and many.

Yesterday the topic of WWI - first day of the great war...was everywhere as you acknowledged with this thread...
Political commentary is inevitable - on this specific topic...
These coins are not depictions of wildlife or comic heroes - hence the political responses...
It can't be avoided nor should it.
So, having said all that - there ought to be more WWI commemorative coins this year!!

Commens, your scans are very good. I like the varying textures of frost which is particularly effective on the first coin. Made me regret I stopped buying from the RCM.

Temporarily.

As always, thank you for posting on this forum!

Agree with you commems, I find myself having to bite my tongue a lot during these releases, I suspect their sales reflect both sides of the issue ,but I digress.

@Electrum Some opinions about the whys and hows about war are just too much of a political fire storm and seeing this is a coin forum as commens says, should be taken to the proper forums.

I personally have not bought any of the war commemorative coins but my reasons are my own, if others enjoy them then that's great.
