Does anyone know what the Krause Catalog says for the value of this coin and is it rare?

Its a great looking coin Matt. Definitely uncirculated, very choice. Thats an excellent buy and I would have bought it also if the chance came up.

Thanks Irish^ - there some small hairlines you can see close up and of course the lustre is a bit dull in a patch at about 7-8 o'clock on the reverse side but it's all good to me.. :)

British colonial coins are indeed very nice. Some have even interesting shapes or a huge hole and most are still very affordable in high grades.

Good buy!
Rest in Peace

Well he says, his prices are also based on his personal opinions.
Now if you are really interested into one specific kind of area, you should not try to make some savings by not buying specialized catalogues.
You will easily get back that money by not buying too expensive coins or by recognizing real bargains!

Thanks Maud' - I don't have a clue about books on Straits Settlements but I'd really be interested in them even esp. if they weren't too expensive.

Sorry Matty :( I just copied what my Krause said.

And if you want information on the Straits Settlements, just google it! The internet is the best source of information on almost anything, so long as you know how to sift through it properly :)
