Serial numbers on bills are very important when it comes to collectors who really like unique serial numbers. Here are some examples:
Solid Serail Number 77777777 or 11111111
Ladder Serial Number 12345678 or 87654321
Repeater Serial Number 12341234 or 21342134
Radar Serial Numbers 12344321 or 98766789
Low serial Numbers 00000021 or 00000134
High Serial Number 99999912
The number 8 is considered lucky to the Chinese. If you found a note with solid 8's some Chinese people will pay millions for them. Currency with solid 8's in Asia are destroyed when they are printed because of this.
Even if a serial number is 00009999 then it would carry a premium. But the more solid the number, the better.

I'm finding these posts very interesting. Never gave much thought to note errors or unique serial numbers. Sounds like fun. When I find my first error "note of interest" I'll post a pic.

I would also think bills with someone's birth year would be popular as well. Like 19521952

Here's one I picked up in December, 1972 in Oklahoma...just missed all threes!  It's well worn, I carried it in my billfold for nearly 20 years. Won a lot of "Dollar Poker" games in the bar, though, so I guess I'm ahead $15 or $20. |

I kept one note just because it is my phone number, it isn't worth anything to anyone else but I find it a major coincidence that I would get this bill in change and it have my exact digits in the exact same order as my phone number

I got a 1950 $50 star note with a bday/anniversary etc. date on it.
Serial number 01031997. Once I saw that note, I knew it was a good note to keep!

People have found them , As much as I look through all of the notes I cant say I have ever found one thought.

I'm a coin collector, but the most prized item in my collection is a $1 with the 00000001. Its one of the few things I've actually got in the safety deposit box.

I dont know what series it is I used to have a scan of it, but I lost it. I think its a 1987. I also found one that was a three digit number - like 00000512.
