Sorry for the mistake. I was in ERROR! That still doesn't change my opinion on these types of errors. quote: I f someome starts an auction for 9.99 and it gets bid up to 100 DOLLARS ... how is that smooth talking...
Not an attack on anyone in particular. I was referring to the efforts many ebay sellers go through (creative descriptions) to make their item(s) sound like an offer you just can't pass up. I have fell for it myself as well as many others I'm sure. Sort of reminds you of the home shopping coin shows and their talented salesmen. they make it a daily routine of getting people to part with their money first and then realize what they had done later. Yes, they do it with a lot of smooth-talk, the gift of gab, creative advertizing, whatever you want to call it. We all seem to agree on the TV coin shows, but it seems many people out there are watching and learning from them.

I was beginning to wonder if we have a full moon or what? Lately it seems as if a lot of folks are is on edge. I hope everyone is feeling O.K. as illness or stress can cause misdirected anger. I'm for taking a deep breath, a step back and a group hug! This is a hobby!!!! You folks are great and I love this forum and I get edgy myself when people seem to go beyond healthy arguing. Keep in mind, people look in on this site and don't know the relationships and may get scared away! I really do feel this is one of the best forums around and hope we can keep it that way. Thanks, Mike

No one can be more on edge than I am! My job was elimintated last Friday and I got a whole 3 days notice. Worked for the same company for 28 years (well same building, 3 different owners) in the same position for 21 of those years! I am now a statistic of down sizing and managing a budget. The last thing I am really worried about right now is who collects what or why. I come here to RELAX and enjoy the company of other collectors! Now, who's on edge?

Terry, sorry to hear about your situation. My story is more like Metalmans, the will was there but the body went south. It has been a huge change for me and my family but we are adapting. I hope you have your health. Without it, not much else matters.....Mike

For my part I am sorry. I sometimes forget just how pointless it is to argue with children and wannabe dealers. Seems as if everytime I decide to give away advice for free, it ends up costing me time and effort.

ND no need for an apology as WE ALL get carried away now and then. Its just a tough situation when, for all practical purposes, everyone is right and everyone is wrong and most of the time those are no win situations no matter who you are or how you handle it! And, we all know, these types of agreements and disagreements can last a lifetime. To see the same thing we would just have to bring up any recent President and watch the fire fly! Politics and religion, both which are supposed to be on the highest moral grounds, have brought more than one man/woman to blows and many, pushed hard enough are ready to kill! YUP, some things are better left unsaid! Do REALLY appreciate everything said concerning these posts, and quite honestly, I can see both sides of the issue and see NO end in this tug of war! In the end if I am happy about where I put my money thats all that matters! It takes everyone one of us to make demand and I am just glad we ALL don't collect the exact same things. Be to darned expensive then!

Well You guys might be sorry ? but I'm not!!You Guys might feel like you wasted your time and effort? but I dont !!!
I believe I learned something, and once all of the info from this thread and the other one is taken and sorted, and compartmentalised ,I believe that each and everyone who takes the time will benefit.
of course the debate will continue!! because some are stuck with an opinion that no amount of information will change, but not everyone is above learning.there are more people here than wanna be dealers and children!!!
So was it wasted time and Effort?

These last seceral posts have made me a little ashamed of myself, aa it just wasn't right for me to take my "ball" and go home.
So, I'll stick it out but be very selective in who and what topics I get involved in on making any further comments. When it comes down to it, you all were just too nice to part company with. I hope you take that as a compliment.
So like it or not, I'm back!

Old Dan you can't leave as you and your wit, humor and knowledge are much needed. There are just some topics, even though we are all expressing our most sincere views, that will never please everyone. WE are ALL different in every way, shape and form and as long as we can accept those differences we may be able to always "argue" politely! Quite frankly, if we were all perfect NONE of us would have a need to be hear. We would just set at home and count our countless millions for being that perfect! Darn, I got a long way to go!!!

Hi Folks, I'm glad we survived to debate another day! I sure don't want Dan to leave, in fact I respect and appreciate the input from everyone on this forum and want no one to leave. We may jump out of line from time to to time but by and large we step back in before anyone gets hurt. Thanks to everyone for your contributions. Mike

That statement seems to be true. Looks as if the luster is begining to wear off. The latest attempt failed to muster up the reserve. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sweet-GEM-NGC-M...cmdZViewItem

I did offer a 2nd Chance offer to two of the underbidders for $450 (their bids) each - which is fine with me. I'm not picky.
