I think you better just send that 77 to me. I'll take care of it for you!

Nice job on completing your set! Definitely go for the walkers or possibly a Standing Liberty quarter set if you want more of a challenge!

Should I ask a professional to try and clean....or leave as is?

You're probably best off leaving it as-is. No way to tell what the color is from, or what the coin will look like underneath it - the mark might go away and leave a clean swath of coin, making it look obviously cleaned.

Congratulations. If you want to buy Walking Liberty halves, I could help with a cache from my wife's grandmother at a reasonable price.

John, thanks for the offer to dip into Grandma's Walker basket :) I think I want to trade some of my Morgans for a nice AU/BU short set of Walkers, as I have more than enough extras. I'll check in with you after I land a short set and see if you can help me build up to the full set.

Thanks for the tip on the penny. I'll avoid trying to get it cleaned, as I probably would end up worse off.

The only thing I've ever had luck with was using a very, very fine Cosmetic brush or applicator and use a tiny bit of acetone. I dabbed off a light smudge on a 1915D wheat, sent it in to PCGS, came back priblem free. Just my humble opinion, do not try if not confident

There, fixed that. Do not ever use a brush or similar tool on a coin, even if you lubricated it with glycerin first. Coinaddict took a huge chance by doing it. Acetone doesn't need help, just patience. No tool will make it work better.

That's pretty consistent with other input I've received....just leave it alone. Thanks!

Can not emphasize this enough. Why so many think brushing a coin with anything is smart is just not smart. Sort of like that dropping a coin for difference in a ring. Anything to hurt a coin is not smart.

IMHO ... There'd be no harm done by letting that '77 soak in acetone for a few weeks.

Some of the Early American Coppers guys, dealers and serious collectors, use an especially soft brush. I bought one but have yet to use it.
