Just out of interest, why would they bother to put the legion number on a slingshot?

Never is a very very long time ......

There are a few major dealers I would take the chance with.
But they are quite few and generally seem to get top dollar anyways.
And only one of them is in Spain !

Phoenician, you could contact the seller and tell him you don't want it?

FR I don't know any of the dealers on ebay well enough to part with that much money, I would rather pay more to vcoins and have a guarantee.

There is a procedure whereby you cancel the transaction. It is not a great thing to do for your own "reputation", but under the circumstances it might be the way to go. Have a look at the ebay help.

Phoenician, having looked at the images on the web for slingshots, I think you are doing the right thing by cancelling. The slingshot that he had for sale does look remarkably fresh.

I'd be very interested to know if they actually engraved slingshot lead (bolts?) with the legion names. I believe I recall seeing some genuine ones with thunderbolts on them or something but can't remember for sure, and it seems like an off thing to take the time to do. Them again if it was as easy as carving something into a mould you were making anyway...

I can't see them engraving every slingshot they made, definitely in the mould is my guess. I saw the thunderbolt mark, cool!

They did put numbers on the shot. The problem here is the buyer paying too much and not doing the homework before buying. In this case I would strongly side with the seller.

Very interesting about the numbers. If I ever hit the lottery I'd like to see how complete a collection I could build.
