Not a Kushan coin in my opinion, but not Greek either.

Topcat7: here are two Kushan sites...the first one is page one of multiple pages (you'll see links to page 2,3, etc. at the bottom):

There are some Kushano-Sassanian coins that this coin almost resembles, like these ones from Gandhara. But I'm still not seeing anywhere near enough surviving detail to lock it down to there.

Thanks Guys and Girls. I have read your comments and I have looked up the sites suggested by Bob.

Perhaps TIF is right (she usually is). Maybe the coins are NOT Kushan but could possibly be early Greek.

Please see new post "Early Greek Coins or Kushan?" where I have shown the other eight with this one.

Perhaps haveing them all together will help to identify wher they are from and the period (etc.)

Thanking you

Hello, BOB. Your computer must be better than mine because when I click on the first part of the link I get "Wayback Machine Doesn't Have This page archived"

When I click on the second part of the link I get a review on E-Cigarettes.

I did, however have more luck with the other site that you put the link up for, and I went through all of the pages there unfortunately with no luck.

I then went to where TIF said I could look and I found a number of (similar) coins there, but no matches, but I am STILL looking.

Thanks for your interest and time - everyone.

I don't understand how it is working for you because I get a dead site and a site for ecigs. I'll leave it up and wait to here from others if it works or not.

Unfortunate about the inability to get to Tom's great archived site...so did you try the cut-and-paste method? The site is the best resource for Kushan and Sassanian in my experience.

I'm not computer savvy enough to know how to "adjust" the link. If you read this thread at Forum, and go to the same link from Joe Sermarini's second post, perhaps you'll have better luck(?)...that is, if THIS link works:

I seem to recall reading that Tom Mallon recently passed away and his web site is no longer being maintained.

It does work, I have just tried it. Copy and paste and the site comes up fine.

Edit: I am glad I got the link before it went. It is made up of two http addresses. Clicking on the link will only take you part way. You need to copy the whole line.

That's very odd. http://web.archive.org/web/20140326092955/http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/kushan/kushan.html

OK, so if you cut and paste or type both addresses in the search line the site does come up. Never seen this done before but Bob you are right.

Thanks Bob, it took a while to figure it out, but I think we got it.

Actually, Echizento, the link you just posted is for the start of Tom's Sassanians. Here's the Kushan link I posted earlier:

http://web.archive.org/web/20130501223930/http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/kushan/kushan.html

Again, all, it seems it has to be cut-and-pasted to work.

Also, unfortunately, some of Tom's original jpegs/thumbnails don't seem to have survived the archiving (as you'll note if you scan the pages). But at least the majority of his work is intact.

Some good news here: Alfred De Le Fe of Agora Auctions and Coinproject.com announced today that Mallon's site, "The Coins and History of Asia," will be active again, hosted by Coinproject.com. Alfred is working hard, "editing the old HTML, cleaning up old coding and changing old (dead) links." He says he hopes to have the work done in a few days. Cool! It's been nice having the archived version available, but as I've stated, it has a number of missing images and links. Sounds like the soon-to-be relaunched version will be in better shape.
