May we ask what your coin is?

Coinlover this is it but I hope I'm not breaking rules by posting it. If so, mods, remove.

I suggest you submit to CAC prior to selling. A bean should get you more money.

Price it around with 2-3 major dealers. You will get a good idea of the going price on it. If you have a group of them you want to sell, break it up and get multiple quotes on each coin to maximize your returns. Don't sell a large group to one dealer. ;)

@jimbucks - I don't think individuals can submit to CAC. Unless something changed, they only accept submissions from preregistered dealers, auction houses, etc...

You should try to sell it directly to another collector through a coin forum like CCF. That coin is highly liquid and desirable - an easy sell with little need to wholesale it out for offers or taking a nearly 15% hit on eBay/PayPal/S&H fees.

I would just bite the bullet and list it on ebay. The truth is they reach an audience you just don't have access to, especially on big coins.

I also think if you posted it on here you would do better than at auction. Nice coin by the way.

Yeah that's a good $4,500 coin. Auction commission and ebay fees would eat up a chunk. These are the perils when it comes time to sell. Do you pay the fees or sell it to brick and mortar dealer for less than you would like. There is always peer to peer for a fair amount but trust is not easily earned on the Internet. Either way you won't get as much as you like but you already know that ..you just don't want to get taken for to much skin.

Hi Jon, newish member I just wanted to (off topic) ask why you thought posting the pic of the gold coin would be against the rules? I am still getting acquainted with the rules of the forum. Thank you!

Mister Kairu, he was worried that the thread would degenerate into what would be thought as a simple sales offer instead of the research into venues he intended. It hasn't. Jon, this one deserves a reputable online/meatspace auction. I strongly believe the increased exposure to a specialized audience would compensate for any increased cost of business. Consider consigning to one of the event-associated "Signature" auctions. While waiting, maybe float it on the market with one or two of the market-makers in the category who would have regulars interested in such a coin.
