These are Canadian $20.
Why would some pay more than $20 for each?

You hardly can spend these at Starbucks....

The first in the series has some premium
attached to it, only one with a COA (not serialized).
Many on ebay for $39, don't know if they are selling.
These six are inexpensive by comparison.

SilverDon: Thank you for writing! Would you know why they carry a premium, is it only because they are first in the series?

Silveroid: Agreed

NorthernCoins: Thank you and merry Christmas.

Will try to explain shortly.

They were the first issue.
Looks like till the 3-rd issue (The Polar Bear), the general public hardly was aware about this coins. And when they became known, the demand for them was high. But why?
Because they were aggressively advertised, like "Exchange your $20 bill to $20 Silver coin", due to this the general understanding was, that they will be "like" circulation, might be even the 1-st step to go back to silver based coinage....
So this fact increased the demand, and as response the prices jumped up. And all of these till 3-4 th coins, were people knew about them and started to buy for issue from the source.

My estimation:
Maple Leaf - market price $33-$40
Canoe - $30
Polar Bear - $25

Of cause, depends on the buyer

Promised shortly

Twig, an answer to your question as I sell on ebay. Like has been stated they are the first in a very long series. So those coming to the series now and needing the older coins are paying a higher price, it's the first, it's a great design and it comes in nicer package with COA. Also we don't know how many are returned to banks and then melted. I have seen this coin go as high as $50 in Solds on ebay. The average price seems to hang around $30-$40. I did see it sell once for $100, this seller routinely gets insane prices for her coins though. It's the best design of the entire series in my opinion. I hopes this helps.

I also hope you'll enjoy your time here, there's loads of information. Members are very knowledgable and are a friendly group. Sometimes it does take awhile to get replies. If you do a search on the $20 For $20 coins, there's many interesting threads on this series, right back to day one. You can see the progression of interest and excitement, up to today's attitudes on the series.
It's a fun little series, when you get the coins at FAce Value. It's also an inexpensive start to coin collecting.
Also many banks will take them once they are aware of the RCM procedures. They do get paid extra, to compensate them for the hassle!! People I have heard are the most successful with the Royal Bank. I've also heard coin dealers aren't likely to buy for full value, as there's little to no profit for them. Look at Canada Post, they sell at $25.95, so they can have a profit on the coin. They do have success to in selling them. It's your turn to form your own opinion once you've the facts. The RCM sells other proof 1/4 Oz silver coins at $70.

@ecigtwig

with everything that @pocketchange50 has said,
the design is great, it is the coin that got me into this
hobby, I had collected some decimal coins but this was
NCLT #1 for me.

The "final" customer will always sell one.
And the lot will be sold for price lower, or will not be sold at all.
Since this isn't series, so selling 5 or 6 really doesn't meter, why not to make a deal between you?
