One explanation is these owls have been found buried as hoards inside pottery. The coins on the outside bear the brunt of the environment, leaving those in the interior in choice condition such as yours.

My first ancient Greek coin that I added to my collection also has significant value.
The most important thing to do, if you wish to start into the ancient Greek series, as we have both done, is to source your coins from a dealer who has an established and extensive reputatation that is third party provable.

Do that, and the inexperienced (as I originally was), collector should be buying happily.

I don't know the slab in this case, but that does not really matter; the reputation of the slabber DOES.

This coin could remain the 'star' of a growing collection of ancient Greek coins for years to come.

Keep the invoice for this coin under separate cover, to help establish or extend provenance, should you need to sell it later on.

thanks for advice, following Massachusetts silver coins I learned that you should buy pretty attractive well centered coins, I figured since the coins are both primitive in manufacturing, the same rules would apply although the rarity level is different I think the romanticism surrounding it is alike., but even if I lost money it really wouldnt matter because I'd still be attracted to it. which would overturn any buyers remorse. that was basically my thoughts with this coin:)
