What kind of reaction will you have when you flip the 1938 over and see the S?

Congratulations! I bet your hand was shaking when you saw the 43-D. I can't wait to read about your 38-S find in the hopefully not too distant future.

Congrats on the 43-d. it's a tough one but as a Jefferson nickel collector of 50 years , the 38-s will be more of a challenge for you. but hey, you never know. hope your dream nickel comes true. Tony

Congrats on the 43-d. 38-S should be the hardest. I need one to fill my third circulated set.

I found my first and only in October only took me 172,000 coins to find it. Still need the 50D,39s and all of the 38s. I will keep on.

Congrats.
The only hole I have left is 1938S as well.
The 1950D I have is UNC and I bought it as a kid so technically I still need to find one of those int he wild as well.
I think I am up to 325+ boxes / 650,000 coins.

David, I needed the same 2 you needed and searched for 4 years with noluck, then I found the 38s and 1 week later found the 43d and a 39d. When it rains it pours!

I have many left to find, but have searched considerably less. That just means more fun in store!
BTW...found a 51-S on NYE which was a filler for me!

I am truly envious! CONGRATS! I myself am looking to complete the same set and am around 50 boxes into my search and am down to 38D, 38S, 39D, 43D, and 50D....to keep my interest in searching going I am also making a set of how many countries of foreign coins I find as well as trying to complete a set of "major error types" of which I have found some pretty spectacular ones along the way. This is one of the most fun hobby quests I have ever partaken...I just hope they don't stop making nickels before I find them all!

Congratulations! Good to see that if you're persistent and search enough nickels you'll eventually find them all. With only one left have you given thought to what you're gonna do when you complete the set?

Back in the day when the 'War' Nickels circulated freely the 1943-D was elusive. To find one in this day and age is miraculous. The 38 and 39 branch mint nickels could be found but it wasn't easy. Especially the 39-D. But NEVER the 50-D!
Congratulations to those who persevere the nickel search in 2015.

Good job! Congratulations on the 43 D. Good luck on finding that 38 S soon. My nemesis remains the 50 D.
