That's a really good strike! The details are all there and that obverse rim is incredible. I would say no less than 58.

AU-58 details. The surfaces don't look right, but it could just be the picture and the angle used.

To be honest, I was expecting a G-VG coin, so I was a bit surprised when I saw this coin.

Well, that explains the staggering strike.

You going to return it if you don't have to?

I'm not surprised in the least that it's a proof strike. That obverse rim is a dead giveaway if the overall strike was not enough. I wonder if someone else got your coin?

The seller was gracious and sent me my coin so at one point I had both to compare. I had bid on a 1903 proof (improperly cleaned).

In essence I was looking for a higher grade Barber half for my 7070. I liked the really low mintage of the 1913 but preferred the toning on the coin I actually bid on and returned the 1913.

From your pics they look comparable, so in hand I presume you chose the one you liked the best. Not a bad idea putting a PF Barber half like this in your 7070. I have a 1914-S PCGS Unc details cleaned that I cracked out for my 7070.

I thought it looked like a proof. That would explain the odd fields and the really sharp strike. Great looking coin!
