Reversing rings and extension tubes are required accessories in this Forum.  As you may have figured, I'm not a fan of USB scopes but that's partly snobbery. Under the conditions you've established, one is appropriate to your needs. I feel you can meet your goals for half your budget or less, though, leveraging the recommendations of others in this thread. The CCF Optimizer has bandwidth as an included priority, and although it can be manipulated to offer larger images I tend to recommend offsite hosting for ease of posting larger images. We don't like imgur because of the potential for NSFW imagery, but Photobucket works quite well. |

To add to this thread.
I have a USB camera/microscope. I have found the 2MP range a bit below what I want. Also, trying to take a picture if a silver dollar is difficult. can't get the whole image in.
I don't mind buying a regular USB camera for full coin images, or a combo item, if the MP is higher.
Any ideas?

In terms of advice, better options other than USB cameras do exist for very moderate pricing. I would agree with SD's statement, Quote:

IMO USBs are best for mm close-ups. I chose this celestron. It has a 3.5" LCD for field viewing and it has a rechargeable battery. It also goes as low as 4x magnification which I liked. There's an sd card and you just hit a button to take your picture   |

can you take a picture of a 2 inch coin and get the entire coin in the shot?

No it will not do that. My coins are found metal detecting and it's great for seeing hard to read dates, die cracks, varieties etc. but you can't see a large coin which is less than desirable. That's the only one thing I don't like as it's got a nice 5 mp camera and other great features
