Welcome King Coing
nice to have you here
sorry to hear you are a groper,
but as you are a digger, we'll let you stay
(We may have to translate these posts to the North Americans)

1-What little round disc fro Oz catch your fancy? - are you a predecimal or decimal fella?

If these post lead to much to the Aussie coins we will have to move our post to that section.
2-Have you checked out the Aussie section on this forum?

I'm not prejudiced mate.
I spose ya could call me bi-coinal.
I love em both.
Although I do have a lot more decimal than pre-decimal.
In come the dollars and in come the cents.
Out go the pounds and the shillings and the pence.
Be prepared when the coins begin to mix.
On the Fourteenth of February Nineteen Sixty Six.
Click go the shears boys click click click.
Ahhh I remember it well.
That will have the our American friends baffled

LOL....it is a type of fish...some people spell it as grouper. Downunder, residents of each State are given a nickname. People who live in Western Australia are known as sand gropers just as residents of South Australia are known as Crow eaters and Queenslanders are known as banana benders....

You are right Lim a Grouper (not to be confused with a groupie) is a fish, and a very nice tasting one at that. You may well have caught the odd one up around Hedland way (a Grouper I mean).
But a Cylindraustralia Kochii (Saussure), common name Koch's Sandgroper is an insect that crawls around under the sand and is only found in Western Australia. If you want more info go to https://www.abc.net.au/perth/stories/s1372920.htm
Sorry to be so pedantic but I would hate to lead our American friends up a dry creek bed.

Is that chop shuey with sweet or sour sauce.
Apart from our indigenous friends the Chinese have been here and helped make this country what it is today as long as anybody else. If it wasn't for the Chinese, Broome and Darwin along with alot of other towns would not have that special something that they have (not just restaurants LOL).
There is a lot of biggots out there that would find it hard to admit that. But thats OK they are a dying breed in Australia anyway.
I'm only 1st generation Aussie myself. Born and bred in Perth. The most isolated capital city in the world, and proud of it.
Good on ya mate
Crack another tinny and chuck another prawn on the barby will ya !!

Yeah I noticed that too...like "honour" instead of "honor"...that is a legacy from years of education in the UK...

Sorry guys! You are definitely speaking AUSTRALIAN, not English, and it is also amazing that I can detect your accent in your writing! And, it is really good to have it here! Kind of like adding new spices to an old dish! Really hope all of you hang around and share some knowledge, history, culture and do a little trading? Just hope there is something from the U.S. or Canada you fellows will be needing way down there? Doesn't have to be just coins as we folks up here will ship anything!!! Welcome aboard!
