Yes 47P7, I don't hunt them down as much anymore as we all did back a few years ago. They seem to be showing up more and more often now and I have one of each Reverse variety now so I bypass lots now unless there in a higher grade than what I have now. I saw at least two on ebay in the last couple of days. But still a nice variety to look for if you don't have one nice catch dollarman

Congratulations, thedollarman, always nice to win something that you really wanted! Don't let others rain on your parade.

Steve, it was not meant "to rain on his parade".
if it came across like that, I am sorry.
As Papeldog correctly said, they are rather easy to get these days.
a few years back a handful of collectors who knew about it were "hunting" them all over the world, from Australia to England and the US.
And, these coins were prominently and in details discussed on 4 coin forums that I know.

Griffin had the coin listed as Gr-703e described as Rarity-8 , a RARE VARIETY. With many more people coming across them ( as 47P7 and Papeldog stated) they hardly qualify for that lofty status today. Another example of diligent numismatists revisiting a series. My current thought is that this so called E instead of an F is not common but hardly RARE. I currently have two in stock as well.
If anyone wishes to research this series or specific variety consult "Newfoundland and British |North America Die Varieties of Cents and Half Cents 1861 to 1936" Jack Griffin monograph 4 The Charlton Press.

Dollarman, the link, even though it said was the proper link, still took me to another auction. Now it's showing the right one and I see how nice this one is! I love die cracks!

47P7, reading e-mails is harder to interpret the real meaning. Thanks for the explanation.

I have given up on hunting them.
the lowest priced I purchased was in London (GB) for 2 GBP)from a dealer there.
the next was AUstralian $ 5 on the bay from a very dry town in the middle of Australia.
Unless it is a "much better" grade, no go for me.
anyone interested? PM me...
