Nice coin! And at $.35 I think you did pretty well. Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely love it when old copper turns rainbow. *sighs happily* Thank you for sharing those pictures.

I've got several coins that have toned nicely, and I know I paid less than fifty cents for them each. They're wonderous bits of beauty that one could make a separate collection for, no doubt.

Darn, that's completely lost on me. Guess that's why I haven't bought any toned coins.

That has to be the nicest looking blue Lincoln, I have ever seen.
Actually its the only one I have ever seen. I didn't know Lincolns toned like that.

Nice coin acidic1! How about some different angles? My Lincoln looks totally different depending upon the angle of view.

Elle - I have a whole separate page in my Lincoln collection for toned cents. I have duplicates of all those, so I put them in separately. When showing my collection off, everyone spends at least a few minutes on that page alone....well...that and my error page.

Maybe I'm color blind too 'coz I don't see any blue. I see green but not blue.

BadThad, I know that I would love to see some pictures of your toned coins! Even the ones that have been toned purposefully are pretty to look at, but the ones that have done so by accident seem so much prettier. :)

You could get that stuff off with a strong solution of Baking Soda and water.
Nice coins for real. Appears that a slight difference in colors front and back. Both nice.

Bad Thad,

I got the dime out to get some different angles on it but to my surprise...the toning had dissipated.

Sleaklight, thanks for that link. I knew I was red/green colourblind, but I learned alot more about it from that link than I ever learned from an optometrist. Go here:

http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/...s/index.html

And select Protanope, move the slider a little over halfway, and welcome to my world.

Sorry this got OT for a moment.

I've got some Lincolns with some very cool looking blue toning. A local coin dealer claims that they can be artificially toned by "baking" them. Has anyone heard of this process before?
