I picked NGC when I signed up a few years ago but I can't remember the reason why. I think it was pricing, they were a tad cheaper. I think though if you go with either NGC or PCGS they're both pretty reputable. The other ones, I've heard some bad things about.

Personally, I have always preferred ICCS. I see less of PCGS in Canada then I do in the states. I also see less of ICCS in the states then I do in Canada. Canadian-banknotes, When you buy a coin in Canada do you change it from its ICCS holder to a PCGS holder?

Its obvious that PCGS is more popular because when you look at my post ICCS is not a link but PCGS is but America is bigger so don't think ICCS aint good!

Everyone jumps on the PCGS bandwagon.

So then the market (everyone) pays more for PCGS.

Everyone says standards were stricter back in the good old days and wants the OGH rattler holders.

You can either buy PCGS second hand or you have to join their "cult" and pay your annual tithe if you want to send your raw coins in to be part of their "mystic"

The only coins I have every submitted raw personally went to ANACS mainly because I had free vouchers. The ones that came back as DETAILS grade I knew would but somehow had hoped they might pass for some odd reason.

Accordingly many here who submit coins raw to ANACS for whatever reason report back that they are "disappointed" with the grade they got because they "wanted" a better grade.

So which TPG is really grading stricter nowadays Most seem to say ANACS.

I don't have a link to all posts but this one came up recently posted by bishftl

Coins I intend to sell go to PCGS, varieties I am not 100% sure of go to ANACS. Coins that could use a little "Conservation" also go to ANACS.

I mean, ANACS is the best, but pcgs and NGC are the ones numismatist try to buy because NGC and PCGS usually have the best of coins in their holders. But PCGS is a very good company. One of my favs. They are a bit tough on grades sometimes though.

Personally myself I like NGC but I do purchase PCGS. The only coins I have sent in for grading have been PCGS though.

PCGS or NGC for problem free coins... ANACS is good for problem keys because they will give them a numerical details grade on the slab and a details coin doesn't really need the cache of the top 2 generally

The ONLY way to avoid "Disappointment" is to pre grade the coins you are submitting properly.
If this means that you reject a coin because you personally think it won't make the grade you are looking for then so be it, Far better that posting and hoping that the graders make a stuff up in your favour.
I now always pre grade anything I submit as if the coin was someone else's without favour.
Since I have been doing this I have rarely been disappointed and often I actually get a higher grade than I expected

PGCS looks best for all coins other than LWC's and Buffalo nickels, IMHO.

The only thing about this which isn't a moving target is PCGS' advantage in the marketplace. It's been a long time since there was any basis in fact for that advantage; indeed, long enough that they've come full circle and all are now grading as tough as ever in their history.

Except for the ones which are ridiculously off, at which everybody seems equally capable. I won't send a Morgan to anyone but ANACS, but I wouldn't send them a Lincoln if you paid me to.

I think we are getting caught up in not buying the coin, but the slab! I would prefer buying a coin in an anacs slab because I know I Will get it cheap. But Heritage sells ANACS graded coins to so it is not like they won't sell.

Buy the coin, not the slab.

Sell the slab, not the coin.
