I've had this happen to me as well before. It was all just junk silver but I indeed messaged the seller and gave him/her a heads up for next time. If they reply with a hasty message then neutral feedback will do.

This is a totally inappropriate way to package coins! I have received coins like this and I raised heck about it. Sent it back and seller sent a replacement in a 2x2 holder. They were most likely trying to skimp on the postage. I don't mind the envelopes being used but it better be packed right. They are machine sorted and can damage the coins going through the mail sorters.

Force... I agree with you. I am all about saving on postage but I would NEVER mail coins like this to anyone. I really don't know how these made it through USPS.

I'm not sure if this is definition of "free shipping", but if you paid for shipping I'd push to get reimbursed for anything over cost of stamp. I realize there is no actual free shipping on ebay and costs are usually factored in your bid. |

Here's the rub. If he used a stamp 5here is no tracking and a buyer can simply say the didn't receive it. Not a good business practice that WILL bite him

I recently received a Large Cent taped just like that. It was troubling, but it was a worn coin. I realized the seller probably never sent a coin in their life, and thought they did a good job packaging. I sent them a message and they were grateful. Just don't think it's worth dinging feedback for something like that. Would certainly never claim I didn't receive them, that's stealing plain and simple.

Oh yeah... I would never claim I didn't receive them. That will always come back to bite you at some point in life. I emailed them and they claimed to have never had one mention that when shipping coins. I was a first for complaining about shipping. I find that hard to believe but anyway. I'm not going to leave negative or neutral feedback. I personally will not buy from them again. The quarters have already been put away and life goes on now.

Perhaps that, also, but I'm left the impression from the OP that it isn't the guy's first coin sales. A polite email doesn't teach the same lesson as a Neutral feedback. Myself, I'd go the "thinly-veiled threat" route but I'm a jerk to begin with.  |

I really hate when sellers do that. I just received two SQL not to long ago and the seller did the same thing. If they want to do that at least wrap them in paper or put them in a coin envelop first. For eight coins, it should be in bubble mailer but if they want to save on postage they should spring for proper coins holders; coin envelopes, 2x2s, and/or mylar flips. Quote:

I agree, I wouldn't claim I didn't receive them when I did. Since it is lie and you are essentially stealing the coins from them if you did. Perfectly acceptable to raise an issue about doing that though. I hate it, and have received coins just like that. It is even worse when they are copper since I don't like using acetone on copper. 90% alcohol takes the tape residue off better but don't like using it on coins. Edited by buddy16cat

never sweat the small stuff in life it just gets you bigger problems. Love life ,laugh every day ,and with stuff like this let it go gently and move on!

Seller was probably not a collector. At least they didn't just drop them in an envelope to rattle around.

The seller had a decent amount of feedback and several other coins / mint sets for sale. He also had several small lots of silver half dollars and quarters. Hopefully he will not ship these coins the same way he shipped mine since I emailed him about it.
