I always went by the word GOD, but now I know there are other markers. Thanks.

Another PUP on the Small Motto is the "T" in "TRUST" is tucked up higher against the ribbon. PCGS Coinfacts is a great reference also. PG

This one has a few good pickups. I try to find the ones that make people scratch their heads at how I attribute them.

This OP coin as a Small Motto is still $100+. It can be worth your while to be able to identify the basal ones, and a basal attribute is a snap decision in higher grade. When you can see it at a glance, you can bargain from strength.

It is a large motto. My favorite PUP is the outer leaf below GOD. On the large motto it is thin and follows the contour of the leaf below it. On the small motto it is larger, bulbous and comes much closer to the ribbon above it. If you can see any of the motto above it, on the large motto the leaf point is to the right of the N. On the small motto it is left of the center of the N.

Oh, nice. That'll go into a low grade too.

Not hijacking the thread. I am just confused since what I have determined is a small motto matches some of the markers listed above but not others.

Jeffrose, aside the fact that the D on yours is visible and diagnostic, I don't really see any of the other pickups arguing against yours being a Small Motto. The leaf Conder mentioned is clearly in the right spot, as are the banner tips I mentioned. All the other little stuff is subject to wear and strike artifacting. You got the main stuff right, so this is a good one to avoid overthinking.

First off, I apologize for getting hopes up...and I was looking at the viewers left ribbon and noticed the more rounded inner portion of the small motto in comparison to the OP coin.
