You won't be using the regular "Upload image to post", you'll be over in the gallery uploading your pictures there.

You might want to read through this a couple of times before you get started. You'll need to wait for your gallery to be created to go on to step 2, but you can start downloading your Photobucket albums to prepare. And feel free to ask any questions. Hopefully this is all clear

Step 1: Downloading your images from Photobucket

If you want to download the pictures individually, you need to click on each one. Then over on the right side will be a "Download" link under "Options".

To download an entire album:

In Photobucket, click on the album name in the left menu (or leave it on "Your Bucket" if that's where all your pictures are).
After it shows your album's images on the next page, there will be an "Actions" area on the right.
Click "Download Album".

Prove you're a human via their little interaction window
Depending on the size of your album, it may take a while..
When it is finished compressing your images into one downloadable file, it will send you an email that it is finished, with a big blue "Download" button that links to the file. The page you were on will also automatically go to a page with the "Download" button if you didn't navigate away while it was compressing.
You will need a decompression program. If you don't have one already, I recommend 7-zip - it's free and easy to use. http://www.7-zip.org/download.html Make sure to download the right one depending on whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows.
During install, if it asks if you want it to add an explorer/context menu extension, tell it yes. That way you can right click on any .zip file and you will have a 7-zip option in the menu that pops up to unzip the file.
After you've downloaded the album, open the folder you downloaded it to and unzip the file to a folder of your choosing (if you're using 7-zip, just right click on the zip file and look for the 7-zip option. It will have unzip options to unzip to a folder named the same as your zip file, or other options).

Right click options:

Repeat the above for all the albums you want to retrieve.

Now you are ready to upload them to the CCF Member Gallery.

Step 2: Uploading your images to your CCF Member Gallery

After Bobby lets you know your CCF Photo Gallery is created, read over the instructions here: http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...ms/cms&id=21 on how to first create your album(s) then upload your images.

Step 3: Getting your picture from your member gallery into your post

After you have your pictures uploaded, you can add an image to any post by doing the following:

Log into the gallery section
Click "My gallery" in the left menu
Navigate to and click on the image you want to insert into a post
On the page with the image, copy the entire line of text under the image that starts with [IMG] and paste it into your post.

If you have any questions about any of this, let me know!

xshift, First let me say thank you very much for the help. I don't want to install 7-zip so how do I unzip the file when I am ready to transfer my pics to my gallery? I am not all that computer savvy just so you know.

You're welcome.. happy to help

Windows has a built-in zip file decompression - if you right click the file, it should have an option to "Extract All" (fourth option down in my screen shot above showing the right click options). I haven't used it in years, so I'm not sure if it asks you where to extract the files to, but it should, so you would just tell it where to extract them to and then upload them from there to the gallery.

Also: I'm assuming you're using Windows. If you're on a Mac, we'd have to ask someone familiar with those as I've only used a Mac three or four times in my life

Windows 7 home premium. Some the pics look squished now? If I delete the bad pics before I upload to CCF gallery will they also delete from posts already on CCF?

Images are squished where? And how?

If you remove (or move or rename) images from photobucket they will be removed from any posts here that they are in. I could probably help you replace some of the more recent ones.. for example, if you have a picture of a cent in a post and you upload that image to the gallery here, I can change the image in the post to the new location. Doing it for all of them would be pretty time consuming, though.

View settings on your computer may be a bit strange. Are you viewing them in explorer, or opening them in Windows Photo Viewer/another program?

I wouldn't delete any until after you upload them and they appear squished in the gallery.. especially if they were fine when viewed on photobucket.

O K, I will wait. Will I get an email telling me when I get the go ahead for the gallery? Now, after I transfer pics to CCF gallery if I was to delete from PB will that delete from CCF also? I am trying to get away from PB.

Any new posts you make with images from your gallery here will not be affected by deletion from photobucket.

If you delete images from photobucket that have been used in a post here, it *will* affect them by deleting them from your post (it will show a grey box with "this photo has been deleted" or similar), that's why I offered to change any recent posts to point to the new location (your gallery).

So what I'd suggest is clearing out the ones in Photobucket that have not been used here at all, after you've downloaded them and got them safely uploaded here. Leave the ones there that you *have* used, just so they don't disappear from here. If you want to make me a list of posts and what images are used in them, I can change them and you can then delete them from photobucket.

And yes, Bobby will send you an email when your gallery is ready

Wow,I am not sure if I remember which pics I already posted here on CCF using PB it's been many years since I made my first post. The main reason I wanted get away from PB was I don't want to have blank pics in any of my posts.I also don't like all the ads and pop ups on PB. I hope all this works out ok in the end.

I'm sure it will Maybe just leave everything there then and just copy it here, and just use the gallery here from now on. The pictures there won't do anything but sit.

I've moved away from using them because of the ads and slowness from them. I click to go to a page there and can go fetch a cup of coffee and come back before the page has finished loading all the ads and extra stuff. It's too bad, really.. it was a good place to keep pictures.
