The built in reporting is worthless. There's nowhere to explain exactly what makes it fake, so it can't be substantiated. Bobby has a direct contact.

Interesting. The high bidder retracted. Must have given it a closer look.

When I report items, I click 'copyright,' 'counterfeit,' 'counterfeit,' and then in the description box type 'counterfeit.' Sometimes I might give a brief description.

BTW, that's a pretty decent tooling job. Nice catch

Has rev of 1803 S-257.
Obv is the one used for 1803 S-257 and 258.

Has a large fraction rev so it couldn't have been from an 1801.

When you see an 1804 cent it has to have a large fraction. There are only five large fraction dies (3 from 1803, 1 for 1804, and 1 for 1807) Then look at the gap between the ends of the wreath. On the 1804 it is just a little right of the center of the E. On all of the other four it is either below the right edge of the serif of the E or below the serif of the S. That will eliminate all the altered date pieces out there.

I wouldn't have even guessed it was a counterfeit. Looks like I need to get some more books up on large cents.
