Quote:I thought about ordering the 1/2 oz. Kook for $39.95 but haven't yet. Got this from Tailsman coins yesterday in an email: http://talismancoins.com/products/70488 For Canadians, from Perth will be bit cheaper. Was ready to order, but still on the fence - it started to be available something like 10 hours ago from Perth Mint and still available.....I like the coin, but afraid to stuck with overpriced Proof bullion .

I think john100 has a excellent point.. if they are discounting like that, I gotta say, everytime I see dealers slash like that, the coin has been a dud and they want to liquidate....

I was close to submit the order several times. But: **the news about RCM new series came with the 2200 mintage and classic design **Talisman pricing based on purchase volume - this is treatment same as for bullion. From other hand - it not will be extremely expensive, same as for 1/2oz RCM enhanced coin... still on the fence, but leaning toward "not to buy". Do not need additional "limited" item lying somewhere at home.

@Silveroid I hear you on having "limited" items laying around I dont need. When I first entered the hobby years ago, I would be so excited and in a rush to buy these type coins, such as with a privy mark. Then I started to pay attention and I was like "hmmmm, whats up here, prices on many of these are dropping...". I mean the rate at which this recent 2015 silver maple leaf with the Chicago ANA privy mark has dropped in price is out of this world. On top of this all, they had a LOWER mintage with this coin and it STILL is bombing. Which again proves my point, a rule in coin collecting is mintage numbers mean nothing if the demand is there. You could do 100 coins and if there is no demand, prices will slide. Anyways, the upside out of all of this is I will be able to get a ANA privy Chicago coin at the price I want and I do want this coin since I am from the Chicago area.

You right Yup My mistake was to compare here limited SML and Kook, so I was on the fence about the Kookaburra It is 2000 mintage (really limited for bullion) Proof - only special editions bear this feature 1/2 oz - not common for Kookaburraand all together with the double-dated I saw the "winner" in this coin vs Chicago Privy SML. But will not buy. About "limited mintage coins" laying around: it not exactly the case, but when you have here and there "limited mintage" stuff - this is already not exciting.

A question is there any worry these reverse proof privy mark maples, even slabbed ones, will develop the dreaded milk spots? I'm not sure if they are processed like ordinary bullion? I like the reverse proof, but spots deter me! Does slabbing even deter this? I do like these coins, however I want info before diving in!

Every coin slabbed or not may develop milk spots. Examples: my 2012 Titanic Privy slabbed developed milk spots 2012 F15 SML in square capsule also developes some small spot visible via specific angle of view.

Must be very disappointing, they must now only be worth bullion prices, or am I wrong? Does a spotted ms 70 still get a premium? It doesn't bode well if slabbed maples are getting spots. Seems no amount of protection will prevent spots, if they're meant to happen. A real shame since there are many desirable designs. How expensive can it be to correct the problem once and for all. They recognized the security issues and fixed it! These bullion are desirable but can become ugly over time. A nice way to own affordable silver, especially with changing design. The Nclt is just too over priced, when it can't hold issue price.

@pocketchange 50
nope, once they get that dreaded milk spot the value plummets big time.it is even worse for slabbed bullion coins, they really tank hard....

It's what I was wondering about. I saw a slabbed wildlife coin with milk spots. It was the wolf and it was terrible. It seems even slabs don't offer enough protection. I like the wolf privy, but they're almost $10 over spot in CAD. Rather expensive if it will get spots. Who knows when we'll see $30 silver again. This is why I wonder who will chance $80 on a special 5k privy maple? It seems like playing Russian roulette.

The wolf privy is nice, I am planning on buying slightly over a tube, however I hate how these get spots. My e=mc^2 privy coins have started to get spots, but these privy coins have a low mintage in the bullion market, and most privy coins tend to do well.

How long after they are minted do maple leafs generally develop milk spots? Is there a point after which it is safe to assume they won't develop them? My 2012 Titanic Privy maple is spot free, so if it was going to develop milk spots it would have already done so by now, right?

I am watching sales and PF69 coins continue to drop, as we move into the new year and this coin gets older and the excitement drops, now low 60s. I dont have enough data on the PF 70s yet, not too many from the data I am culling. I just love how you stalk coins, watch prices drop, then you can buy for what is a fair price. I remember last years ANA coin I wanted until February of this year to get lol

Yup your fortunate living in the states with many big dealers! There's many opportunities to catch a sale without worry of exchange rates and most with free shipping. Canada's sparse population it's rare to get free ship. Most dealers don't give the huge deals silvertowne or MCM do.
