I've read someone on here found a quarter eagle in a cent roll at least once. But finding gold in circulation is one of those once-in-a-lifetime events for CRH, in my opinion.

Thanks folks. Pure...luck!!

I picked this one up a couple of months ago and tossed it in with my foreign coinage. I only figured it out a few days ago when I went through the process of sorting the various finds/nations and this was the specimen from Austria.

Had I realized it back then, I would have returned to the bank in hopes of finding another. But I flubbed-the-dub I suppose. As for the quarter eagle in a cent roll, I wonder if that was the same thread I saw a few months (year) ago where this was discussed. That would indeed make a CRH enthusiasts day! I suppose that's my only down point; I would have loved a piece from home....but this works!

double check those foreign specimens

I always check my foreign coins because I keep them too. They had a hard enough journey to get to me with moving from country to country and submitted to the horrors of the autoated coin rolling machines, so I put them out of their misery and suffocate them in little jewelry bags and bury them in a box in the closet. I catalog my kills, ... I mean, document their parting from circulation in an HTML file with a picture of one of their gamily members and other relevant information so they will not be forgotten but remembered until the time that they are interred for a visual autopsy. Nice find, but now what do you plan to do with it now that you have found it, and in what type of roll did it come in? CWR, Brinks, Loomis?

(I think I should stop watching those CSI type programs on TV... )

SilverRoosevelt - That was probably me. Back in the 50's, my father and I found a $2.50 Indian in a role of better-grade Indian Head cents. Of course it wasn't worth very much at the time!

That's a cool story coinfrog. Finding something that shouldn't be there...it adds to the CRH addiction!

Back then, around 1955, you could buy rolls of Indian cents from your local LCS for around 80 cents, best quality.

And this is exactly what keeps me motivated! Thank you; I've had my coin boxes sitting around half open and half done for the past several weeks, I've missed my weekly pickup date at the bank for the past month or two, just kind of stopped.

I found a 2011 dime in a penny roll before. Does that count?
