Besides the confirmation of 1J I'd also like to hear what everyone thinks of a grade for this one...

AU53ish, maybe MS60 on the upside. Tough call from the seller's photos. Nice Morgan regardless.

I don't know - the luster looks pretty good to me. I'd say possibly 58 up to maybe 63.

Keep in mind, 1J is the latest of late die states. This is a very_worn die pair and will not be striking any brilliant coins any longer. That said, I still have it at AU55.

As long as you're OK with them never being worth a ton of money, 1921's have more character, more legit errors and more meat for academic numismatics than any other Morgans, 1878 included.

Agreed... while I don't have a ton, I'm up to 2 - 21P, 11 - 21D and 2 - 21S.. oh, and counting..

At one point about 8 years back, I had over 100 separate 1921 VAMs in stock. Got pretty silly for a while there until I realized I was broke.

Maybe cash poor, but certainly not broke.

Some interesting close ups of the reverse on this one. Really neat coin...

SsuperDdave, they just obliterated these dies in 1921... Really neat to see...

here's some closeups of the obverse. I checked Vamworld to see if I could find the interesting markers. On the blown up images at vamworld these same shots are there.
