You could try taking it to a jeweler and get an acid test done on it. That will be pretty definitive on whether or not the silver is fake.

I thought that to westernsky but He said the guy is a buddy and I assume he let him feel the pull. Maybe I will start with calling colonial acres. And go from there. I am sceptical its a fake. I assume it came straight from monarch and isn't a used bar. I would assume they would advertise it as used if it were.wish I knew a jeweler.that may be the next step.

Coin dealers buy and sell a lot of coins, bars etc, its possible its a fake if they didn't check it properly or came in a large lot etc, not saying its fake but it is a possibility. As some have said , "some pawn shops can be shady or maybe they where making a guess as it may have "looked" fake, but wasn't who knows I guess.

Colonial Acres is a pretty large and reputable company. I would tend to give them more of a benefit of the doubt than some hearsay from a generic pawnbroker

I am very sceptical its fake. Thats the problem. I dont trust the pawn shop guy as I dont know him and wasnt there. But hard to argue. I just spoke with colonial and he assured me they come straight from the refinery. I guess I will just buy it back and go from there. Maybe make a trip to the hardware shop and test it on a strong magnet myself.

Make sure the you get back the same bar you sold/traded, and if I was in your position, I certainly would beware of any future transaction with 'pawnshop guy' and/or your numismatic buddy... Far too many people willing to compromise their ethics for a quick buck

Yea! I go with not trusting the pawn guy!
There full of hot air to do deals.
It would have to be the last place to take a nice piece of silver.

I hear yas.. The bar had some features I will recognise so I would catch a switcheroo. I think the prob lies with the pawnshop as I know the guy wanted to put it away till spot rises. He was in selling other stuff and thought he would check it. Buddy seemed certain there was pull so he must have felt it himself. I will keep ya posted.should have it back tomorrow.

I'll be more inclined to believe its a fake when I feel the pull myself.

Yep... That's the one. As far as I know there are no fakes of this bar.

I bet the pawn shop had not seen a Monarch 1oz poured bar and didn't want to mess with it. It's likely fine.
