Looking at Cascade's old post, I see Peace dollars and 1921 Morgans. I doubt that they are all CC's.

I looked at the Silver Queen closely when I was there and saw a lot of 1921's. It's a tribute to the Comstock not an artifact. As an art object it's not valuable but it does contain about $40,000 worth of silver. A lot more silver than these coins contained, for sale up the street. At least the dime looked real. The silver days were gone 140 years ago and today the whole town depends on taking money from tourists. Carson City and Reno are good places to find high quality coins, caveat emptor in Virginia City.

If you're ever in Reno or Lake Tahoe, the drive to Virginia City is an easy side trip and well worth it. The curves on the winding road around the side of the mountain are sort of edgy. Of course it's for tourists, but they've done a great job preserving the old buildings, and a walk through the graveyard reading the headstones is unforgettable.

Quote: As an art object it's not valuable but it does contain about $40,000 worth of silver. I disagree. If that was removed in whole and put in a well advertised Heritage auction I bet it would sell for wayyy more than its silver or numismatic value especially if it was a vegas auction
