That's because bay Seller ipeiyu bought all the Standing Liberty CC issues . Seriously, I just noticed that all the fake coins we reported recently in this thread have all been pulled from auction. Hoo-Ah (Hoo-Hah?), we made a difference ! Jack

The second thread (liangliang----) still has all his listings. I reported a few but started having index finger spasms (lol). I notice he has more than 1400 sales so he's not new at this game. I wrote and asked him to at least include the word "COPY" in his listing - no response (DOH!). You can't help but wonder if all of these folks selling the same poor quality merchandise, aren't maybe different branches of the same cherry tree. Great job on getting them pulled. That was FAST WORK! It sort of feels like a futile endeavor. As soon as one is closed down, two more pop up. Reminds me of when I was a teenager digging holes at the beach for a plumber. Take one shovel of sand out, three more fall back in the hole. Luckily I was paid by the hour, NOT the hole. Jack PS - Oh, and did I mention, this is my fifty-oneth post?

All of Liangliang's coins are gone, and have now been replaced by Bangbang's poor copies. Just looking at the seller names, it looks like they keep a list of similarly foolish sounding seller names (ie. ipeiyu). As one is closed down, they simply re-list under another silly sounding name. Seems like they are counting on a war of attrition. They must figure we'll get tired of playing. It's actually starting to have the appearance of a well-organized group (or am I being naive?). Bobby131313 - your tool for retrieving ebay pictures that have been pulled is nothing short of amazing. Thanks! Jack

Here's Bangbang's version of Education Teaching Youth (compare it to my avatar): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Chinese...em35f1109566 This item is listed as " Old Chinese Coin, Valuable, Worth Collecting", AND as a " New, Undamaged, Never Opened item. Jack

If it's that obvious to us, it must also be obvious to ebay. I think stomperbob is correct. As long as nobody reports these obvious FAKES, with deliberate intention to deceive, ebay is happy to take everyone's money. And, there is a difference between a counterfeit, meant to circulate, and a FAKE that's meant to deceive collectors. The true counterfeit documents a point in history, the state of the art (at that point in time), and could still be considered art worthy. The only time a FAKE item is pulled is if one of us reports it, and then, within minutes, the same item is re-listed by a new seller with a name like Fooldyu. I can't believe ebay doesn't see what's really going on. That sort of makes them complicit. And, if you watch some of the auctions that don't get reported, they end up costing the Buyer $50, or more. I've see the same (or similar) 1878 Trade dollar, listed by 4 different Seller. One recently sold for $46, and the Buyer thinks he got the deal of the century. I just reported a "Fat Man Dragon Dollar" (FAKE) that had a starting price of $39.99! It's sad, and it's NOT right. Jack

Our old friend bangbang is BACK. He has an entire page of these coins German coins described as, "Valuable Old Chinese Coin - Worth Collecting." Interestingly, the reverse is written in GERMAN and celebrates a German shooting contest! ebay has NO INTEREST in protecting bidders from FRAUD. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Chinese...em4d385f2567Look at the wear and gouges at the 8 and 9 o'clock positions on the obverse. They are all identical! This is beyond the pale and is outright thievery for the poor bidder who doesn't know any better. Jack
