I don't CRH but I was at the bank (wells fargp) a few days ago to pay off a cc and asked if she had any large dollars (ikes) she said no but she had some half dollars so then she pulls out her tray and says I have $11.50 in halves... u could see 1 lonely silver half so I said I'll take them all as to not raise suspicions but she said... oh wait this one is silver so I'm keeping it

Darn it!

I've found dozens of solid rolls of silver halves over the years.
I really miss 2007-2010 when I got back into the hobby seriously, Every other roll held silver, I think I amassed about 1,000 40% in just a year. Nowadays, finds are made, but few and far between.

This should probably be moved to the crh forum -

The other day I found 2 solid rolls of BU 40%. So yes, there is silver out there.

Congrats, you do now! CRH is pretty much checking your pocket change, you only got little over half a roll, but had it been a full roll would you have taken it? Do you only take it if It is 1-19 coins? Asking the teller for loose coins like Ike's which have no commonly avilable rolls now, is CRHing.

So far I have found maybe 2 40$ max in any box I have CRH'd, while in 1 CWR roll I found 3 40%. You might have better luck depending on your location with CWR than boxes with silver, but you will have more luck with boxes than CWR if you are looking for NIFC or proofs would be my guess.

I hate tellers who get greedy and take the silver for themselves. One of my friends has a relative who works for TD bank and she gets silver coins frequently. However, customers have asked for the silver coins before and they get them, because the bank over there cares about customer service, unlike the one you mentioned...

You normally will have better luck with customer wrapped rolls. Most older people don't know what they have when they go to the bank and just deposit them. I have had several finds of numerous silver or full rolls of silver this year alone. I do find some decent scores in boxes too, but I'd go with customer rolls.

What makes them any more greedy than you? If you had their job would you willingly let silver go to a customer? I certainly would not.

They can get boxes of coins ordered with ease, while customers of a bank cannot? Abuse of access to the shared money pool. They can get anything directly from the FRB while nobody that isn't working at a bank can unless the bank has a policy to allow it for customers.

Again, if you worked there, you would do the same if you could. Almost every job has some perks. That is not greedy, that taking what is given to you.

If I were to try half dollar roll hunting, how would I know what was 40% silver, or some higher % silver?

1964 and older are 90% silver
1965~1970 are 40% silver.
S Mint mark from 1970 and newer some are 40% silver.

If it isn't one of the standard designs its either a commemorative that will say what silver it is, or maybe a clad or two commemoratives exist, or its a fake.

the Gold with Kennedy and dual date is 0% silver, cause its gold.

Don't forget the 1992-present S mint silver Kennedy's - entirely possible to find them via roll hunting!
