SPP_Ottawa-
I havn't got any Nickel Dollars in my lowball collection yet.
As you know, they are harder to find than Silver Dollars.
Maybe I will purchase one of the ones you have listed
just to have one in my collection.

If it wasn't for the obverse, can not tell the year, don't get any lower grade than this piece.

Nice dollar...I guess. I can appreciate someone wanting to collect these but it's not for me. I'm curious to know what it weighs?

Can I assume that you have to be able to determine the date in order for it to be collectable?

Cheers, Bill

Nice one, if this isn't the same coin I know of it's mate. Was this purchased from a dealer in southern Ontario? I love how just the 6 is visible and you need to see the obverse to identify it, as john100 mentioned.

@ Hounddog Bill, you are correct, but this coin is particularly interesting because the lower loop of the '6' is visible in the date, and the obverse was only used in 1935, and 1936. Therefore it takes a little knowledge to identify the date but it's easily done.

You can also distinguish between the 1935 and 1936 obverses, as the kings are depicted differently. I believe I've seen a dollar without the date, but due to the design it was graded by ICCS. I think that one was the 1967 though.

As for this coin, real beautiful! I've got to agree with PO1. Nice pickup

Thanks for the responses and confirmation of it being a PO1 Grade.
It is the only one I have with this low of a grade.
The others I have look to be between a 2 & 8.

To answer some questions,
I bought it on ebay. It was in with a lot of Silver Dollars I purchased.

As for the year, if you look closely, you can just make out the number 6,
but even if you couldn't, 1936 is the only year with this Obverse which is enough to Grade it.
The 1935 Obverse is the same as my Avatar.

SelectCoin,, who is the dealer that has one similar?

@ JimmyD...my father actually, he has a number of lowball dollars, but when I asked him last night he said he sold the 1936 raw for $75. Nice premium for a coin that some would consider scrap.

that's a great example! I don't know if I showed you mine at the show but I think you have me beat by just a little. PO-01 without a doubt.

Hi Dollarman-
I saw your Lowball Dollar. Very nice.
You have a nice selection of Lowball coins
including your avatar.
Maybe you could post some pictures.

SelectCoin-
I paid nowhere near $75.00 for this one.
Averaging out the total cost per coin, it came to $17.50.
Your Dad did well on that sale.
