On a circulated coin, it is pretty difficult to determine what exactly you are seeing...

Don't bother with grading, it so hard to see without a glass, what would you pay for a coin like this?

Domys and rocky, I'm curious how you figure the straight edge of the vertical bar of a "4" can become curved?

Not much learning happening in this thread..what you got to do is -Clean the coin..as advised by one of our experts. -Use arrows to show the area's in question. -Post your pictures right side up.
If you could show us what your seeing you would get more replies. All I see is wear no tripling. Just my opinion

Semi unrelated note does Hawthorne or a cactus spine really not damage the coin?

Quote: Semi unrelated note does Hawthorne or a cactus spine really not damage the coin? The thorn itself, no. But you have to be careful, because crud you push around with the thorn could scratch a coin.

After cleaning at least 1000 Vickies, I can attest that in about 1-2% of cases, you will scratch the coin with the crud you dislodge.
I always do my cleaning under the microscope and it's always painful to see that fresh new scratch, no matter how careful you are.
For every 100 varieties I salvage from the ravages of crud, there will be 1-2 that will get damaged..it comes with the territory.

I can now see some of what you are showing as doubling, but am having difficulty see 3. It seems to require a lot of magnification and that is often a turn-off for some collectors. I personally wouldn't try for a TPG to grade it, but we all have our points of interest, don't we?
