Here's a link to a site on clashes. Take a look at the overlay. You'll note that the E on your coin (if it is an E) would be incuse and probably tucked behind Lincolns bust (and pointing in the opposite direction). There are a number of experts who frequent the site so they'll be along to help diagnose what you have there. Mike Diamond, BJ Neff, Coop or another of our seasoned members will have something more for us here. http://www.maddieclashes.com/adc-1c-1944-01/

...and a lesson about magnification. Sometimes it's misleading especially when trying to determine a minor variety. Sometimes it amplifies things that aren't really there. You'll see what I mean after hanging here with us for a while. Welcome to CCF and the learning!

I agree with you. I focus in on a particular anomaly and may be missing a bigger picture. Thanks for the warm welcome also. Looking to learn alot from the experienced.

Well put Tommy. Very nice first photos by the way. Nice photos period! You'll see here that if folks can see what you see, the process goes much smoother.

So are the numbers incuse, like they were punched in?

No they don't look punched in at all. Very confusing. The numbers are almost invisible the width of a human hair.

I was looking at the counter stamp topic. All of the examples there can not be confused for what they are. Big bold stamps. This is not even close to being a stand out marking. It took me a while to figure out what I was even looking at.

Tommy - can you post a few more pictures of the affected area? Is there something going on between the R and the T (perhaps running through the left side of the T?

I wonder if it is sort of a die identifier, like on UK Six Pence and Shilling issues of the 19th century? Only this was never meant to be seen.

Doesn't look like a counterstamp with these latest and the explanation. Like it's stamped or silkscreened on.

Ok guys another question. I took this weird coin to my local coin shop in hopes of a better microscope. Well he did look at it and was bewildered a little, told me it had no value then offered me a dollar for the penny. Well I said no as it is unique to me and then he seemed mad. What gives?
