There's at least 3 obverse hits and 1 scratch . the graininess bothers me too. however the coin is fully struck , FH .Full Shield ,gorgeous reverse.
will let SLQ Experts do the grading.

Looks either MS or chemically treated to me. Hard to tell from the pics but I think it could be MS64. I checked similar on heritage and found a few MS coins with some graininess. Maybe send it in to NGC or PCGS for grading. PCGS list price $400 in MS64.

Truth is, pictures lie. Everyone can give you an opinion, no one can tell with certainty that they have been cleaned or dipped. Just that the surfaces " look odd". Take it to a coin shop/expert to be examined in hand, or send it in to be graded. While I don't have a type I the others that I have , can have that pitted look when photographed.

If the surfaces prove to be genuine, you paid 1/3 to 1/4 of what it is worth. Perhaps that should be the first clue to the puzzle

Possibly dipped, but not a deal breaker. Nice luster, and FH. I'd send it in.

Beautiful coin. MS 64 FH. The only way the surfaces can be evaluated is in hand. I'd send it to NGC. They are very precise on the SLQ series.

Hey guys so I took this coin to a shop to get checked and he said it wasn't cleaned or dipped........unfortunately he didn't use a loop flipped it a couple times, stared at it and said "looks good to me". Took about 30 seconds! This guy was older than me (im 45) and unless he has eyes like the eagle on the back of this coin I'm hesitant to believe he had enough information to determine that, he also didn't seem very enthusiastic....just like a ho hum type of person. On the other hand if the guys been dealing with coins and is professional it might only take 30 seconds to tell. What do you guys think?
