Using the Early Dollar variety wizard, http://www.earlydollars.org/wizardhome.htm

I came up with BB-94, B-3.

I'm no expert so I could be wrong.

I came up with bb-110 b-16 using the wizard. I will try it again.

I'd say XF details. But it's still a very attractive coin imo.

This is a BB-110, a particularly rare variety for 1798. I think the pattern of nicks, though, confirms this as a coin sold in a NGC holder at the Sept. 17 2015 Heritage Auctions sale at the Long Beach Expo. Whoever sold it to you cracked it out of its holder to hide its Details grade from you.

And it looks like the artificial toning may have been added since that sale.

Philadelphian that link doesn't work. I can't find it in there. Just curious.

There's been a rise lately in people buying details coins, cracking them out and relisting them as problem free raw coins.

Thanks paralyse I spent close to an hour trying to find that one. Pretty coin but cracking it out and selling as a problem free coin? Probably not the honest way to go.
