I also wrote to the seller before they were terminated.
I also asked if he would sell them as Numismatic Forgeries for study. No reply yet.
Regarding the explanation of why they are fakes, I see that as the only real value in this exercise since no matter how often items get reported the seller survives to re-post the same junk another day.

Well, I got a reply. Quote:This is absolutely stupid! I simply forgot to change the photo of the obverse when I used one of the listing to make the other (that's why the obverse of 1948 is the same as the 1945). And you jumped to the conclusion that those coins are two counterfeit coins, making all kinds of links with your China-I-don't-know-what?... What an idiot you are! It's very fortunate for other coins sellers on ebay that a dumb jealous seller like you is not a policeman... One last thing: if you report me again to ebay with only stupid allegations of this kind, you may have to face very serious legal actions. I hope this is clear enough... I just replied to him, and also cc'd on my reply was somebody from the RCMP's counterfeit division. In poker, that is called "Calling ones bluff"

Just checked my in box and the first item was the seller's reply. Here is what he said: Quote: Dear swamperbob,
I received your email today about what you called "forgerie" items. Did it ever occured to you that all of this may have been caused by a mix-up in photos? I mean, you assume that the obverse of the 1948 dollar is the same as the obverse of the 1945 because "the die was the same"... And if I simply forgot to change pictures when I used a listing to write the other? I think you must ask those kind of simple questions before going to any serious conclusions...
Thanks to think twice next time before taking any action...
- odovdo123 He was not as "irate" with you but makes the same specious claim about a photo error. The photos are not the same. The two obverse photos are of different coins - not a repeat of the 1945 picture. I now believe that the seller is a simple FRAUD. He mixes high ticket frauds in with cheap genuine materials. He is not an English speaking person - Chinese ? who knows.

Good move SPP! You rock! Honestly, the tone of that reply says it all. Oddly this seller sounds exactly like one of a different name who I encountered from the same location, who also threatened me with legal action if I reported them to ebay for another sort of unscrupulous deed (which didn't stop me). But the same tone is just so far over the top, it sure would be a coincidence if they're not one and the same with multiple accounts. This one is worth watching....

@swamperbob Canada is officially a bilingual country and the majority of people in Quebec are French speaking. That may account for why the seller might not appear to you to be English speaking. *************** Edit to add: A close encounter by another CCF member. My experience with a person with the exact same aggressively styled MO involved shill bidding. http://www.coincommunity.com/forUM/...IC_ID=169860

Oh... a reply from him... unfortunately, I cannot share all of it here, the CCF bad word filter would overheat!! I did find one little comment in his reply worth sharing... Quote:I've been my self the first victim of [someone] who sold me those coins on ebay a few days ago. Sounds like Karma already emptied his wallet... and he is trying to do the same to someone else, but got caught...

Sure, we'd all believe that. All his threats of legal action yet he wouldn't report the purchase of counterfeit coins directly to police? Sure. Maybe he should be reminded of ebay's return policy?

By the way, for the benefit of those reading this, both the 1945 and 1948 are from the Big Tree Coin Factory. They are also included on the Canadian counterfeit image CD-Rom Mike Marshall was selling. The files on that CD was the first place I looked after seeing this thread. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/-/161967960859Protect yourself with knowledge!!

Got a second reply from our "friend" with the fake Canadian dollars. Quote:Dear swamperbob, Your cop ass-suck friend just told me about is sucking actions, adding that he works for the RCMP. In that conditions, it's very hard to beleive that you want the coins because you collect them... It seems obvious to me that you simply play with the other ass-kiss the more than stupid good cop/bad cop game and that you want the coin as evidence of an illegal action from my part. Sorry, buddy, but if I've been naive enough to buy those coins from a on ebay, I will now try to use them to catch the real scammer he is in that situation. I wont let you and the other idiots of your dummy services use them against me. I know, you will tell me that you're not idiots. Than, why didn't you catch the thief who scammed me in the first place, instead of harassing his victims like you're actually doing with me? - odovdo123 I do not understand how anyone can justify passing along a forgery to another unsuspecting buyer just because they were scammed.

" I will now try to use them to catch the real scammer he is in that situation.....?" So the sad saga continues, he's selling fake coins that he bought on ebay, as opposed to relying on ebay's return policy/reporting to police. However attempting to sell them again on ebay is actually a worthy, noble deed toward "catching the real scammer"..... What, the "real scammer" is going to unknowingly buy the fake coins back? That makes about as much sense as boiling ice cubes. What a slimy snake!

I think this thread has run its course... there is no need to watch this seller drive off the cliff.. (regardless if he was actually suckered into buying those coins, or is pulling a fast one).

This is why I don't notify them anymore. It's stupid, all you make them do is try to hide them from us even more. Please just report them and leave them be.
