That's one of the interesting things about coin collecting. There are a lot of different price guides out there, but it all comes down to what a specific coin is worth to each individual collector. I have "overpaid" on a number of coins. These days I'm looking at probably starting to overpay on Bust Halves because I want to attribute them. A couple months ago, it was large cents for the same reason. But if you take into account the enjoyment and education that you can get out of each coin, it doesn't seem like overpaying anymore. It's all in the perspective of the collector.

Terry,
You must have the patience of a rock to put together a set of Euro's like that. I am sure that a whole bunch of people woul LOVE to see them. In the way of a suggestion why not enter them as an exhibit in some of your local area coin shows. Or put together a 20 minute presentation and offer it to some of the service clubs or schools in the area.?

Catman I have been thinking along that line for quite some time now. Have tried to get my bank to put in a display case and they could offer their customers, as well as any new potential customers that come in to see the displays, an opportunity to see something that is NOT readily available to anyone here at this time. They don't seem to understand what I am saying as they keep telling me they tried to sell new mint products at one time but with the highly inflated prices (they didn't actually say that) they didn't sell real well! I told them I DID NOT WANT TO SELL my euros, just display them or U.S. classics for the folks to see. Don't think I am getting any where with this proposal but still working on it. I mean where else in the midwest can one go to much of anything without venturing to a big city and then PAYING to see? NOW KYRA and NDGOFLO we need to straighten a few untruths out here and now! WHO got WHO hooked on Euros? Now I can live with the fact I get extras occassionally and YOU folks jumped on the opportunity to purchase them at European cross-the-counter, face value prices BUT I only offered them to friends as a way to introduce you to new cultures, new history, new designs, and of course, cheap silver! Now you can say I was baiting you if it eases your minds but you really can't blame me for the power of the darkside. The FORCE is strong isn't it? Now as long as you don't start referring to me as DARTH VADER I will probably continue to send those little packages out when I have extras and I MUST ASSUME YOU BOTH ARE STILL ON THAT LIST? (Don't let these two fool you forum members as they KNEW a GOOD thing when they saw it. Actually some of these euros have increased considerably in value by the time I receive them but being the great guy I am....I find good homes for adoption! Yeah, thats it! I have started a COIN ADOPTION SERVICE and didn't even know it! I AM DOING IT FOR ALL THE LITTLE COINS FROM ALL OVER EUROPE and THEY need homes to don't they?)

Nothing like HONEST, straight forward collectors willing to open their homes and hearts to the homeless little coins of the world. NDGOFLO and KYRA are outstanding examples of such people!!!
Now SUSAN, I just returned from my local coin shop and someone has just abandoned a 99 1/10 ounce of platinum there! YES, I have adopted this one as well and I AM still BLAMING YOU for getting this started!!!

Okay, if I must accept the blame for adding 1/10 oz platinum to your collection, I guess I must. I feel really bad about it, though. Just this once, I'll offer to take it off your hands and give it a good home. I'll even pay for its trip here. But this is the only time I can make this sacrifice.....

ANOTHER straight forward and honest collector willing to make a HUGE sacrifice in the name of saving a coin and providing it with a life long home! You people are absolutely fantastic and want each and every one of you that your names have been put on my list in the event I just can't handle all these little guys!! Thanks Susan, it is great knowing there are folks out there who care!

I'm always willing to adopt a homeless coin! As a matter of fact, I just adopted three silver 1-oz Isle of Man Cat rounds. One of Dad's co-workers was selling off some of his extras, and I was all too willing to take these pretty kitties in! Rachel [:p]

I wish I could post some pictures but my scanner seems to be on the blink. I try to scan something and it just stops and I get some error message that says "Scanner Error"... Well, duh! Anyways, I now have the Persian, the Norwegian Forest Cat, and the New York Alley Cat. And yes, they're box trained! Rachel [:p]

I'll see what I can do- but I can't make any promises. Maybe I'll try Dad's scanner this weekend? Watch this space... I think I'm gonna eventually try to get the whole set- there are usually some up for sale on ebay. Probably won't get the deal I got on these three though- $10 for all three! Rachel [:p]
