I have contacted the seller and awaiting a response. I am really not sure if the "Add to Cart" option is automatic or if the seller decides. But in any event I think it should be offered if they are offering combined shipping.

I just got a response from the seller. Now I am even more confused.
"Thanks for your interest! Just click on the 'Buy it now' button for the items you want, but do not pay for anything until you receive an updated total reflecting the correct shipping charge."
After you click Buy it Now, purchasing is the only option so how can I NOT pay until an invoice is sent?

Looks to me like just click on BIN for the first coin you want, then x out without paying .do the same for the 2nd coin . do not pay anything now . wait for invoice to be sent to you via e-mail . that should give you your total for 2 coins and one combined shipping charge .

Quote: COMBINED SHIPPING: Additional coin purchases are no charge. If you purchase multiple items... Please wait for an adjusted invoice reflecting the discount on combined shipping. I guess he meant you had to purchase the same coin to get combined shipping. I don't know why the seller would refuse though.

Once you click "Buy It Now" on the product page, you will be brought to the checkout page. Here, in the upper-right corner, there is an option: "To add more items, go to cart." You must click on this.

I have done that for the second item but then the first item is NOT listed and also doing so I saw NO items in my cart at all.

Just for the grins, I clicked on the BIN, and then clicked on the GO TO CART, to add more items, and, in RED it said, item is up for auction and is no longer available. Quote: After you click Buy it Now, purchasing is the only option so how can I NOT pay until an invoice is sent? Yeah, they probably have the "pay immediately" box checked for BINs when they made the listing, as do I. I also combine shipping, and if someone wanted to buy a bunch of items, I'd either reimburse the shipping, or if they contacted me, I would uncheck the "pay immediately" in the listing, and then could send an invoice.

@edweather, that is exactly what I got when I did that. I think I'm just gonna pass on them and look elsewhere.

The Combined shipping on ebay is all over the place when it comes to different buyers and sellers interpretation of it. Some sellers say that they combine shipping only to drop maybe a dollar off each extra items shipping fee when the coins could and are easily accommodated in the same package without further cost to the seller. This does understandably upset many buyers who are under the impression that the shipping will be discounted to reflect the actual cost. The Best way to approach any purchase is to ask a seller about his/her combined shipping BEFORE you bid/buy. Most sellers are pretty reasonable and will try to put everything in the same package "At Cost" if you ask them, If they won't do this then simply walk away and find a seller that will

When the items are in the cart, there is a "request total from seller" button. This allows the buyer to commit to buying the items, and the seller will send an invoice with the combined shipping. I have used it many times.

It all depends on what is being combined.
If I sell 3 individual coins in a flip...yes, I could see the buyer expecting to combine shipping to the just one.
But if I sell 3 silver proof sets from 2009...it is unrealistic to assume that it will be the same price if my original price was based on weight for 1st class shipping.
I always tell buyers that I will combine shipping to the price of one, unless it exceeds the price of one, and then I will only charge the exact amount I pay to ship. Since I have a scale at home, or use priority flat in many cases, this is very easy to do.

I am now able to add items to my cart. And I have learned some things. I don't know if this is the same for US sellers but for Canadian sellers the shipping discounts are NOT automatically applied (at least from US buyers). Having said that, you must request a total. But...if your using the US ebay that function will not work with Canadian sellers. I contacted the seller and he said I must use ebay.ca and voila, I was able to request a total. The exchange rate was pretty decent. I paid in CDN dollars and PayPal did the conversion. Pretty cool... Just an after thought, some Canadian sellers listings are in USD and some in CDN dollars. And ebay makes you pay for those in a separate transaction because multiple currencies are involved.
