(with the law part)

I think superstitious nonsense is ludicrous, but I would never want to see a law against it. I think the first amendment makes that quite clear.

If this thread is considered "bashing" then our society really has a problem that is far greater than any perceived negative comments on this thread - and I do think this country has gone overboard on political correct speech. I am still trying to find the offensive comments.

This forum (classy and very polite compared to others) has often made fun of ebay sellers and their "marketing" ploys many times. Credit to this seller for looking at selling these coins in a unique way, however it is still funny. Nothing wrong with finding the humor in something. No laws needed against a belief system or against people being "creative" on ebay (which I took the OP comment about a law to be a tongue in cheek comment by the OP vs outlawing a belief system).

Nothing wrong with a bit of Levity about an unusual ebay listing.

I do not think there was any real bashing. I am against the idea of making a law against these beliefs, which the first amendment clearly allows to exist.

@tryna .... My "outta be a law" comment was simply intended as a humorous venting of frustration for this ludicrous ebay listing. If the seller REALLY believed her sales pitch, why the lengthy disclaimer ... a non-suquitur that totally contradicts the title pitch!

Buyers, if there are any, will receive a cull Indian cent - a stock coin that's not pictured. If someone wants to believe in voodoo, I've no problem with that ... as long as they don't make any dolls that look like me.

There is a law. Several laws in fact. There is a truth in advertising law which protects the consumer from false claims. There is also an unfair trade practices act which prevents a person from unfairly competing on the basis of lies. Then there is postal fraud. Her disclaimers protect her from all that. She is selling curios. Not very well, but she is at least offering them for sale.

Just to clarify since we're getting into specific laws and whatnot, this is a Hoodoo practice and is separate from Voodoo. Also, dolls are not an intrinsic part of either practice.

I have an '07 IHC that came with a hole at top obverse, found in a bag of 200 Wheat cents from a local coin shop. It is tacked on my home office wall next to my Farrah Fawcett poster. Spooky, now that I know it's VooDoo !

Fawcett was a turn-on ...

The seller's hype is likely an outgrowth of the so-called "witches' coins" that were holed and nailed to doorways. The superstition was to ward off evil spirits. This superstition may account for the holing of many colonial era coins.

A holed. later plugged, Fugio:

A holed large cent:
