Wait - you're going to dump the CCF because someone had a little fun with your choice of words? Can that be right? Hope I'm misunderstanding your post, please.

Wow, bit thin-skinned are we then.
C'mon give us a smile and keep posting.
I've been booed plenty of times, mostly for good cause, but I'm back every day because it's such a good time.
Keep at it - how about it.

Quote: I think I'm not at the right place here... Yes! you are if you want the truth Quote: Ihave posted 6 post et I only had negative comments.. I've looked at those 6 post and not sure why you would say that Quote: According to you guys....I have passed half of my life collecting coins with false errors. Yeah! I posted a bunch of damaged coins when I first came here myself that I had kept over the years thinking they were errors. Talk about disappointed when they were shot down as damage I was. but I stuck around and learned what's an error and it's cause. Way back then I even learned the difference between an error & a variety. I invite you to stick around and learn

Great advice so far. Nobody claimed you were a newbie either just because you're wrong about 1 coin doesn't mean your a newb. By the way overdates or repunched dates ended in 1909 when they stopped hand punching the last 2 digits into the working dies

It has been said many times here on the forum, collect what you like to collect, what makes you happy. It's your hobby. There are people who collect totally worthless Dryer Coins, parking lot coins, all sorts of damaged or just odd looking coins. Just because coins aren't mint errors or die varieties doesn't mean you shouldn't collect them. They won't have a high resale value to other collectors, and shouldn't be pushed off as such, but that doesn't mean you can't value them yourself. I see sellers on ebay pushing damaged coins off as mint errors everyday, that is wrong, but if people are told they are just damaged and still want them, that's fine. People are not going to be able to come to a forum full of other people who have been collecting coins for decades and convince them a coin has a higher value because of some damage done to it or because it spent 30 seconds on a buffing wheel., it's just not going to happen. I would really like to see you stick around, there is a lot to learn here and I am sure you have something to teach also.

I agree with Jasper. I too went over the six threads that OP started. In four of the six threads, ccf members confirmed that his coins were conventionally collectible errors. ("Conventionally collectible" used here because I agree with cwb: collect whatever you want, just don't expect others to ascribe the same value to a coin that you do if it is not widely desirable.)
His other two coins were determined not to be error coins. There was never a personal attack, either stated or implied. Everyone mistakes a coin for an error coin sometime. There does seem to be a range of posts of this nature -- you'll come to see that some members do more extensive research than others, but even those who just post asking for opinions often educate other ccf members who read and respond.
Cwb is far more diplomatic than I am because my initial thought was that you can leave if you want, but, most assuredly, the loss will be yours.

The coin has only had 113 years to get bashed around. It does look cleaned. I would not make a determination on the 4 myself either. I would have posted it and asked the advice of the other members. I have not been on the forum long myself and have been collecting for 36 of my 51 years. I have learned a lot form many of those posting in this thread. I have not noticed anyone here trying to mislead anyone or put them down. In fact, read the rules, that is not tolerated here. As for the advice, it is like all other advice. You can do with it as you wish. It is still a keeper anyway.

Good decision. Nobody here picks fights. We're just here to discuss and confirm or possibly refute your question based on our collective experience.

Welcome to CCF error. There is plenty of knowledge to gain from the members of this site. I have learned a ton just from reading The Last 100 topics every day. I've had my fair share of disappointments with coins I thought were mint errors as well. But the members here are respectful and truly want to help. It's all a learning process and this is the place to learn much.
