do you not think the "shoot him on the spoot" is wrong, it should read "shoot him on the spot" so I think this is counterfeit but I am no token Guru so this may be a typo that is supposed to be there I don't know but usually when there is a typo like that it means its not a legit coin/token

Why does one picture of the token show a clipped edge and the other shows the full token without a clipped edge? Thats sorta strange..

I thought it was a fake, I guess that just confirms it. Usually its small things like that, that most people don't pay any attention to that is different on the fakes and the originals

There is a legitimate Civil War token with the misspelling "Shoot him on the spoot"

It is Fuld die 409. (Fuld dies 408 and 410 - 416 have the correct spelling.)

Here is a mention of this token:

I'm still confused as to whether it IS real or counterfeit........if others were misspelled making them counterfeit......then how do you know you have the particular die cast that is the legitament Fuld die 409 ## one?.......if I understand this right....just having the "misspelled word" does not mean it is a 409 correct?
If it is legit...then.....I guess it sure pays to have a careful eye IN THE DEALER SHOP ! WOW !
Any chance this token will be "sent off" to be professionally identified ?.....slabbed and graded ?

I believe the thought it was counterfeit was based on the misspelling. The fact that some of these tokens are known to have been produced with this misspelling makes the chances of this being counterfeit very remote.

At the time, there was no need to make counterfeit tokens. Anyone could make a token.

This variety is not ultra valuable, so there would be little incentive to counterfeit it now.
