I got my first star note yesterday as well. It was a $1, not a noteworthy serial number but still pretty neat. I'm on the hunt for them now.

I have 1,2,5,10,20 and 50 star notes but most are 10's and 1's with only one 50 star and one 5 star note and three 20's. I even keep consecutive numbered notes I get from circulation also and bought ten 10 dollar consecutive star notes that should be here soon from a forum member. I just received 8 consecutive 20's that are in my stack of keepers but they aren't star notes just consecutive numbers

So am I to understand that finding a $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00...etc. Star Note that's been circulated, although fairly rare, is worth little to nothing above face value ?.....(aside from low serial numbers or the age of it obviously)....

I sometimes keep circulated versions but they aren't worth much over face value if they are well circulated, most people want crisp versions of them and won't buy a wrinkled up version since there are so many crisp uncirculated versions out there. There are the exception, if its a real old or low serial number then they will buy what they can get no matter what the condition. I guess if I keep mine long enough they will be old someday, so maybe my grandkids will make something off of them

if you really want to collect more $1 star notes circulated or uncirculated, you would have to work for it. Here's what most of the people do. Buy like straps or bricks of $1 from your bank and look through them. You would find (from my experiece) around 1-2 in a strap or none somtimes. But sometimes you would find a strap of uncirculated sequential star note. So far I found one and brought another one from a collector also.

there are many ways to start getting more star notes...just ask around friends, family and even the members in different forums. Trust me...it works!

Is there any source on the web to look up values for notes? I just found a $1 from 1969 and I have a crisp $20 from 1985. I know they probably do not have any extra value but it is still fun to find notes that are over 20 years old in circulation.

As pointed out earlier.......maybe it's only 23 years old "now".......but wait 30 years and then it'll be 53 years old in "crisp" condition. Or hand it down to kids and grandkids......then it'll turn into 100 years old someday and someone in your "family tree" will have it and think it's pretty neat and might have even a "fair" value to it !.....
