to the community Not much to go by but I think Bob is on the right track. My best guess would also be Marc Anthony. When you post pictures try an get as clear a shot as possible without a lot of background.

Nice coin you have there! I'm wondering if the OP has an ancient counterfeit? I have seen a lot of corroded denarii, but never a green one. That's about what I would expect the bronze core of a plated fourree to look like.

Quote: That's about what I would expect the bronze core of a plated fourree to look like. This had occurred to me too. Not sure if we're looking at base metal or heavily toned silver. Comparing the two different images of the reverse, above, I wonder how much lighting is affecting our reading of tone here. (The bottom one does look a bit silvery) In any event hopefully the better pics Gomery will post will help us.

Ill take pics later, I need to dig out my camera as the other pics are from my phone. is it best to use lighting or as natural a light as possible. Also should I take the picture on a white background?
What does OP mean as well. sorry
Thanks

Gomery, you could always try both artificial and natural lighting, then post both sets. OP just means "original poster" in threads like this, referring readers back to the original post - in this case back to your original image.

I think it's genuine, albeit in pretty rough shape. Looks like Legio VIII perhaps?
