#7 isn't Morocco; Morocco uses "Western" numerals, and the numbers I can make out on that coin all look "Arabic". I believe it's a 1 pound from Syria.

It's a Krause and Mishler cataloging number. If you pick up a Krause World Coin Price guide you will see a KM# series for each coin series of a given country.

Thanks, so basically its just an ID number for the coin. Also, do you happen to know if the coin that I posted above is indeed one from Syria or not?

As Sap stated earlier it is definitely from Syria and is 1 pound. They made that particular coin in 1968 & 1971

Isn't identifying coins fun?
And, just a hopefully helpful tip. If you take a pair of pliers, you can crimp down those staple edges so they don't catch other coins, or fingers, and you have a lot more storage space for the 2x2s. I can tell in the above picture that your stapler leaves them sticking out rather far. :) Just be very careful not to catch the edge of the coin when you squeeze.

it sure is. Yeah, that stupid stapler of mine doesn't staple all the way. Thanks for the advice. I will probably go and get a better stapler. hah

I wouldn't consign old faithful to the garbage can just yet. Rarely have I seen a stapler that -did- lay staples absolutely flat, especially through such a thick medium as a coin 2x2.
I had a little plastic one, that I wore out in about a year. The second one was a more expensive, very nice desktop stapler (I wasn't allowed to get the red one -_- ) has lasted much longer, but still leaves that little gap. I just go over each flip with my pliers (I've seen specially modified pliers with a spring and ground down teeth so that there's a gap -just- the thickness of a coin, so you can't mash a collectible with them) every time I card a coin.
I figure I'm in for Carpal Tunnel syndrome, eventually. :D

In case you keep photos of all your coins, your second photo of the Syrian coin is upside down by the way.
