It will be in the mail first thing in the morning along with your copy of CAB. Keep in mind there is no January issue of CAB.

There have been a number of References to the CAB
for those of you who are not familiar with it,
It is the Australian Coin and Banknote Magazine
Beautiful pictures and informative articles.
It is published 11 times a year

Cost is AU$ 67 if you live in Australia, but it is AU$ 130 if you live in Europe or the Americas.

To save money-
i have Bigfella send me one each month AU$7.00 and that way I am more likly to place an order with him each month. Even with postage it cost less than a subscription.

Subscription form is available at my website under references.

Gary
I apologize. I used the forum email to send a note to each person on both threads who said they were interested, you were included, asking about the bulk order.
When I only received one reply, I made the second post encouraging each person to order individually

Though in the main an Aussie Magazine, it should be pointed out that it deals with coins and banknotes from all parts of the world as well.

A highly authoritative magazine, it is recommended for lovers of darkside issues.

I have had one or two orders from overseas clients (not just this forum) for the new Greg Mcdonalds book. To save some confusion...in Australia the Greg McDonalds books is commonly referred to as Maccas.

People are also confusing the Maccas book with the Renniks book. Renniks is a different book and the new version will not be out till September next year.

Hi Greg

Got your 2006 edition of the Australian Coins and Banknotes book, and I was a bit disappointed, because you didn't bother to correct mistakes from last yeas edition. I suppose you wont be able to get one of the three existing 1993 proof 1-kilo platinum koala coins 20.000 dollars below metal value. (Last year it was less, but still a 5 figure mistakes.)
I think you should have an excel spreadsheet like the one I have where you only have to change the underlying metal value, and you get no less than the minimum metal value for each item. (Very easy to set up.) Setting it up that way you wouldn't have dozens of items valued well below the (10 November) closing price of the underlying metal prices.
Also all the Kookaburra coins you copied over from the 2005 edition without a single item change up or down is even more amazing than winning the lotto 1st division two wees in a row. I haven't got the time to compare all other items yet, but I know prices change frequently. However looks like you are managed to come up with the same book with different cover only.
On the lack of correct mintage figures for each item is also very annoying. Especially since most of these later coins are legal tenders, and accurate records must be kept by the mints. Under the freedom of information act these records should be accessible, therefore updated in the book. Me and other people collect every available coin from cretin type and year, (like collecting all the tree existing 93 proof 1-kilo platinum koala coins) and we need these figures.

Marry Christmas

Bigfella & I have a spread sheet posted on my site
I would be pleased if you took a look at it and could update it to include the metal value plug in- or perhaps you could let us have a look at yours minus your collection materials and then I could repost for public use.
Thankx

You need an ounce collum to do that.
A simple example on the platinum sheet:
Column A is the description, like Kookaburra poof 1994.
Column B is the pure metal weight in ounce.
Column C is the current book price.
What you have to do is add one entry (maybe on the index sheet) for the current metal price for platinum and link that to the platinum sheet to multiply it with collum B and add an if argument to the result if > than Column C than replace it, or you can just add a new metal value collum like a Column D.

I can help you if needed, but you have to add the pure metal weight columns first, or you can add two columns a coin weight, and a purity collum. Like 0.9167 for 22-carat gold or 0.925 for sterling silver.

Based on some goings on in Australia and the new release of the Maccas,
I have sent an email to Greg McDonald the author & publisher as well as a collector himself telling him about our litle corner of the world, our interest in and active purchasing of his book and have invited him to visit/join our forum.

Greg is not a verbouse poster - since August of 2004 he has made only 33 posts.

If he joins us, I hope we will give him the same warm welcome we have given to everyone else.

Ok I did it, and file attachment is sent to you but only on the kookaburras' sheet.
Far too many mistakes were entered on the original so I had to rewrite most of it.
I also reformatted and rearranged the columns, since some of them weren't very useful.
Red writings are Privy Marked coins brown writings are Coin Fair issues, and bold writings are some other special interest.
The quantity reflects my stock so don't take any notice of it unless you want to buy something I have more than one.
Enter the silver spot price on the top and the metal value column will reflect the coin silver value multiplied with the quantity you have, so if you select the Y column, then the sum on the bottom shows the total metal value of the stock.
