Insurance only covers 80%. I hate debt and would rather pay cash than finance it out.

I am going to make 3 separate topics.

@Coin197, I do not have any proof Morgans (I wish) or any DMPL's for sale -- Morgans are one of my favorite series and I would be a truly desperate soul to ever consider unloading my DMPL's, I love PL Morgans and would probably sell everything else first!

Which auction house do you feel is better, Heritage or Stacks Bowers? If you had to choose only between the two which one would you go with?

NumismaticNovice, it's best to post a new thread rather than hijack someone else's. Plus you'll get more views to your question and answers.

Heritage is OK, but their buy / sell fees are high.
Depends what potential value you wish to sell.
If it is say more than $10,000, then for smaller valued single items, Heritage will often auction multiple coins in single lots.

If you wish to sell a smaller total value, then consider ebay.

Dealers are OK too.
I once sold indirectly a large total value on consignment via dealer. I kept the coins that did not sell, the dealer charged a fee of 20% on the coins that DID sell. About 85% sold. Lots of good stuff: scarce Australian gold, rare date Australian copper and silver, and some ancient gold.

Keep the best cherry out of your collection, because that coin will be the re birth of your NEW collection when times are a little better for you. Your numismatic hope for the future, because it will keep your numismatic interest alive and well.
Also keep posting here in the CCF.

I wish you all the best for your operation if it hasn't happened already, if it has, a good recovery.

I think I am going to go with HA, I want to keep my Morgans, copper, and raw coins, and sell most of my type coins, commems, and even my Washington registry set (sad, but I can't afford to upgrade it any higher.)

paralyse, check out GreatCollections. Their fees are much lower than Heritage or Stacks-Bowers. My best to you, Ham.

I will check out DLRC but I have heard GreatCollections doesn't usually get good sale results.
