It may sell out at the RCM but it should be widely available at all the dealers because 1500 is very high for a 10 oz coin. There has been no other 10 oz coin with such a high mintage because most 10 oz coins are in the range of 750-1200 mintage. Another reason it won't sell out is the high cost. Most 10 oz coins are in the price range of $900-$1000. This coin is pretty expensive and many people can't afford it. The 3rd and most important reason why this coin well not do well is Superman coin fatigue. There have been so many Superman coins around people have lost track of them. The last few Superman coins have not sold out, so why would this one be any different especially with the high price. Also, paying $1149 for a coin and it does NOT come in a wooden case? Instead it comes in a black clamshell. Edited by MoneyPenney

@MoneyPenney All good points. The RCM has increased their prices on most of their coins. The 5oz coins are mostly $560.00 and up which makes this coin since it is twice the silver content with transparent enamel in their price range. I believe that the true Superman collectors will probably buy the coin as there are 3 payment options which might make it easier to purchase for some folks.All in all this coin isn't for everybody but for the die hard Superman collectors it's a must. Will be great on display since it is a nice and big coin. Probably the last Superman coin you'll see from the mint. Imho |

I drew a line a while ago, based on the price of an ounce vs the face value, and 'art' vs the Price - that line has been crossed, and my enjoyment is no longer a large enough factor. Colored NCLT coins and colored bullion coins can be very collectable and valuable, but are on the first step into exonumia.
I must admit, I have a few of them by default.

Cool, the RCM now has a superman coin?! You can say this about most of the coins pumped out of RCM. Polar bears, birds, wolves, maple leaf, sport coins,flowers,trees,trains, ships, and so on. Still people buy regardless how many of a theme coin they have. I stop buying coins from the mint with the exception of this one as I simply like the coin. Most coins from the mint are done to death that's why I lost interest on most of their products. I will on occasion buy special coins from now on. |

if you will re-read 2013 posts about "development of the things" with 2013 Superman coins - it will be cool reading. I even participated in the Reveal Event .... and got the signature of that guy, who was the "main Sherriff" of the RCM. Now after 4 years...no pop-superhero coin will cause even close to "wow" effect for me. |

Superman or DC comic items to me will never get old, but who wants to spend 1000$ on a coin filled with glass :(
This would have been such a nice coin in lower mintage and using silver and gold colours.
I dont think these will sell all that well.
I'm hoping they will release a Batman 3 Oz coin with Reverse Gold and Black Rhodium plating

Thanks, I actually stole my name from How I Met Your Mother, Beercules is Marshal's drunk Alter-ego :P I only started collecting this month, I was previously a silver stacker and got bored with 10oz RCM silver bars, I wanted something more interesting to collect and enjoy. |

Well I did it and went ahead and purchased this 10 ounce superman shield from the shopping channel (coin show). I did think it was ugly at first and then I contemplated the 6 easy pays TSC was offering and pressed the submit button. I have every single coin in the Superman series from RCM starting from 2013 and I felt this was a must to complete the whole collection. Now, I need to find that latest 2 ounce gold plated one at a discount because it looks so similar to the one I bought two months ago from RCM. I keep saying that this is it and I will not buy anymore NCLT with very few exceptions and what do I go and do? LOL buy another! I really do hope this is the end of the RCM Superman series. |
