First PCGS values are high. If you want to buy one get one that is at least MS69 or a MS70. I think those will increase over time in value.Plenty of MS 66-67 out there. John1  P.S. Just looked around and I could not find any slabbed higher than MS68.Those are priced high currently,so search around and save up for any in the MS68-70 range.I did find a 67 for $40 in an anacs slab. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it theoretically possible to find an MS67 cent in circulation? Or perhaps a 65? I see tons of really bright, perfect-looking 2017 cents in my change every day.

I got a whole roll of BU possibly 67 I'll sell you or 40 lol just kidding the top pop for PCGS looks so sorry looking to me I find better examples all the time just my opinion

My quandary is this, as no one has really answered it.
When you look at PCGS for example you rarely see any modern circulating strike at MS68
Usually 67 is it.
But when you look at circulating strikes from say...1950 cent.
1 is MS68
85 at MS67
421 at MS66
Low population and crazy prices.
I understand prices wax and wane....but for modern strikes 67 is about it. Why would you pass up a seemingly decent price for a MS67?
I'm not trying to prove a point or argue anything...I'm not that knowledgeable on the matter.
Just trying to understand the consensus about the matter.
Looking for a better answer than a shrug off.

A 1950 cent is quite different from a 2017 cent, where thousands of bags still exist. The pop reports for a 2017 cent will shuffle quickly every day for years to come as people cough up grading fees in a totally futile race. Edited by Coinfrog

As they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure. I've seen many people here say buy what you like, so, if you like higher grade 2017 P's, buy them. After all, they are an anomaly.

If they were sealing and grading cents in 1950 then there would be a lot more in ms68 capsules, and values would be lower. Coin collecting was a lot younger then and less people were putting whole rolls of brand new coins away. Fast forward to present day, everytime there is a low year or a special coin, there are rolls sealed and stored away by a thousand collector. I have rolls of 2017 p cents that I haven't opened yet, and a box of 2009 cents. Where maybe onl dozens of collectors had the foresight to do this in 1950.

A complete and utter waste of money. If you want a high quality cent, buy some boxes and get to searching. There are TONS of stories of people getting solid 2017 boxes at their bank.
Spend your money on the truly collectable modern cents - wheats and memorials. Shield cents, personally, I hate them but if you want to collect them, start searching bank boxes. You'll have plenty to choose from.

At coin shows every year I see tables full of the latest coins in slabs. People are just slab happy today. Why not just take all our coinage and put them in plastic right out of the Mint. This is just nuts.
